Q: Meaning of "And do not drop in for an after-loss" in Shakespeare's sonnet 50

CopperKettle Then hate me when thou wilt; if ever, now; Now, while the world is bent my deeds to cross, Join with the spite of fortune, make me bow, And do not drop in for an after-loss: Ah! do not, when my heart hath 'scaped this sorrow, Come in the rearward of a conquered woe; Give not a wind...

Why "wouldn't"?
Because it's in the past?
Probably so

Daily idiom: "ring a bell". I know we went to school together, but his name doesn't ring a bell.

@CowperKettle Do you mean instead of won’t?
14:53
@ColleenV yes
I think because it’s in the past is a good enough reason
I tried everything to get that door to open but it just would not budge.
Don’t bother trying to open that door; it won’t open.
> Astronomers uncover new clues to the star that just would not die
This is “the door that will never be opened”. Cast your eyes upon it and tremble!
Wouldn’t implies to me that there were circumstances that should have caused the death of the star but didn’t
Won’t die implies some ongoing characteristic that makes it eternal

@userr2684291 Oh. Yeah, I didn't see that because someone had already edited it by the time I clicked, and I didn't think to look at the revision history.

It's of marginal acceptability at best. I would add do.
Mhm, alright.
Her name's Jayne Mansfield, according to Wikipedia. She looks like a plastic doll here, hehe.
Barbie doll.
@user2236 he says you have to invent a verb in his honor and then he will think about it ;)
@userr2684291 Sorry about the typo... she gets confused with Marilyn often
I myself thought it was M. M.
15:29

@ColleenV thanks for asking :-)
@user2236 he was just teasing, you can use it. I will get you his Instagram link if you feel like giving him credit
how would I give him credit?
perhaps a note in my profile?
@user2236 That would work, but you don’t have to. Here’s the link instagram.com/gracidesigns

There’s not a lot of activity on it right now, we’re moving and his workshop is packed up until we buy a new house
@userr2684291 Oh wow I just realized it was Betty Grable not Jayne M
I feel dumb. He was working on a Jayne picture, but I guess Betty’s picture was better
Don’t tell ;)
she's from a lot older era than Jayne
Is that^ OK? @ColleenV
