Hmm, what is the square root of blue?
What color multiplied by itself is blue.
Do negative and imaginary colors have meaning.
Impossible colors or forbidden colors are supposed colors that cannot be perceived in normal seeing of light that is a combination of various intensities of the various frequencies of visible light, but are reported to be seen in special circumstances. == Types == These impossible colors are of two types: Colors that would be seen if the output strengths of the human eye retina's three types of cone cell (red, green, blue) could be set to values which cannot be produced by exposing the eye in normal seeing conditions to any possible combination of strengths of the frequencies of visible light....

Imaginary colors are useful to use as primary colors to get a larger real color space.

Home I went on my bare soles
Now my sword is chipped and rusty
And my girl turned out untrusty.
The second stanza came out very bad. Poor translation.

After fighting Turks and Poles
Home I turned on my bare soles
Now my gun is full of rust
And my girl betrayed my trust
Still clumsy
Did you ever try to translate poetry, Snails?
Some Russian poets translated poetry from languages they did not know.
They used word-by-word cribs prepared by other translators.

Hi guys
which one is correct?
Adam Gotier's fan? or "Fan of Adam Gotier"?
why is the 's ok?
That is called "a possessive".
is that a possessive?
He has a fan, right?
11:56
well yes
however
it's more of a relationship
The fan belongs to him.
all right
For example: if I have many fans, they belong to my fan club.
Does that^ make sense?
it does =)

Google Ngrams says imperceptible occurs far more frequently than both of these; but of the two, the latter is more frequently used.

Yeah, I'd prefer imperceptible.

@user8469759 They're appropriate in different situations. Maybe you could ask your question on the main site so you can get a detailed answer.
Anonymous
If you want to pick between them, it would help to know the context you're using the phrases in.

Hm, I think I've seen a similar question asked recently.

Q: When to use “of” rather than “'s” to show possession?

MiloSometimes when writing a sentence I ask myself when to use what. For instance: "the screen of my iphone" sounds as natural to me as "my iphone's screen". Are both okay? I do know that "the shirt of my girlfriend" is not really correct and that it should be "my girlfriend's shirt", but what are ...

It's not very similar, but it's something.
But I don't know if there's any real difference in your example; I think I'd be okay with either. There might be some difference in emphasis: a fan of X vs. X's fan.

> To achieve the same results in seconds using neural networks, the researchers first trained the networks by showing them approximately half a million simulations of gravitational lenses over the course of a single day. That was all the training the neural networks needed to produce analytical results that were as precise as those provided by their human trainers — and they were almost instantaneous.
How long before AI will start answering questions on ELL SE?
We should keep our heads on a swivel for that moment

Really? They seem pretty different to me. The version with the Saxon genitive would be inappropriate in most contexts, I think.

David Hammen What other space applications, projects and agencies are using the Ada programming language? Hi @snailplane!
I'm looking for Spanish speakers who might be able to help with Harvey relief. Do you know if you've got any in here?
I only speak English and Russian..
@snailplane Inneresting. To me it sounds legit, as in you can say it (nydailynews.com/entertainment/gossip/…) but I'd prefer the of version myself, too.
Also, you'd say I'm her number one fan, right? Maybe that's why it sounds okay to me.
16:48
@CowperKettle I believe it means they mandated way too early that Ada be used.
Kit's request reminded me of the word of Spanish origin I recently read somewhere: caballero (≈ cavalier, cavalryman).
Because only then I realized what it means in the name of our mariachi band Los Caballeros, haha.
Apparently they're pretty good, and I'm not even into mariachi stuff or trying to promote our musicians (I really can't find good Mexican mariachi bands, to be honest). Here's the song I like; it's one of the traditional ones, I believe.
17:12
Nice song. I heard it many times.
Me too.

@userr2684291 Well, it's not a matter of whether it's "legit" or whether you can say it. It's a matter of context.
Anonymous
Genitive noun phrases in determiner position are always definite.
Anonymous
That is, X's Y corresponds to the Y of X, not a Y of X.
Anonymous
So when you compare X's Y with a Y of X, you're going to find that the basic difference is one of context, because definiteness is essentially pragmatic, that is, a matter of what is appropriate in one context or another.
Anonymous
It's just like asking about a and the. Having some context helps answer the question.
