Q: Want a look vs. want to have a look

JUNCINATOR I want a look (at sth) I want to have a look (at sth) I would think both of the sentences above have negligible nuances. But option 2 seems to be more common (according to google ngram) despite being longer to say. Why is that the case? Also: I want a closer look... I want to have a closer...

@Jasper @CowperKettle We should hold a poll. All in favor of granting ColleenV official Word of the Day rights, say aye!

Q: Differences between the questions: "he didn't tell you? / he hasn't told you?"

Eliana Grosso A= I'm so sorry Andy is moving away tomorrow. B= really? A= he didn't tell you /he hasn't told you? I have seen them both used in similar contexts but I was wondering is there a difference?

There must be no practical difference between the two in this context, I think

I have just read "Can you can a can?"
> Can you can a can as a canner can can a can?

Cossack Ballad of the Day: Ataman Gamaliya
Stanza 1
> Gamaliya was our captain, captain true and tried,
He and, he and Cossacks they betook them over, over waves to ride,
He and, he and Cossacks they betook them over, over waves to ride.
Stanza 2
> Over waves and over billows, there to earn renown,
There to, there to free their fellow Cossacks by the, by the Turks kept down,
There to, there to free their fellow Cossacks by the, by the Turks kept down.
16:15
Stanza 3
> What they see in old Skutara, old Skutara town?
Captives, captives waiting for the judgment with their, with their heads bent down.
Captives, captives waiting for the judgment with their, with their heads bent down.
Can I omit do in "What (do) they see"?
"What they saw?" probably won't do either
17:10
Stanza 3
> On the streets in old Skutara, old Skutara town
They did, they did see their fellow captives, with their heads bent down.
They did, they did see their fellow captives, with their heads bent down.
Stanza 4
> Fight, my brothers, cried our Captain in a booming voice,
We shall, we shall yet drink wine together, we shall, we shall yet rejoice.
We shall, we shall yet drink wine together, we shall, we shall yet rejoice.
