@ideasman42 Speaking of that comment, any idea why it was mysteriously removed? (I didn't)

@ideasman42 It won't make you look good if you delete criticism... word gets around
(if it is you)
if not, @iKlsR, who is it?

"word" = random joke someone made that when viral and now everyone half-believes it.. :P
How very internet XD

@ideasman42 It's nice to have a dev as one of our moderators, but honestly I'm not sure that it's required. Most of the really cool things you do as a dev+user (e.g. implement features which people ask about here) don't really require you to be a mod. IMO you could still do most of the things which make you stand out as a user, without being a moderator at the same time. It would take some time pressure off you, as there's no way you have much free time ;)

All that said, if you want to be a moderator and help our community, then that's great :)

@ideasman42 Agreed! I'd rather have one less but then one less spam post

2:23 AM
This a reply to @David's request for me to mention a few edits that seemed unnecessary: I found one that I think isn't really necessary. blender.stackexchange.com/posts/19496/revisions while some good stuff like separating out the specs was there, I thought getting rid of the signature and the grammar correction of "here's" to "here are" wasn't really necessary, although in this case, it's a bit more of a case of "while your at it", lets quickly fix some grammar.

@gandalf3 I withdrew from moderator election, I like to see blender.stackexchange succeed but seems there are enough people wanting to help out with moderation - and as you say, I don't have to be a moderator to help out with edits. Also TBH I don't especially want this role, if it helps thats great but if others have time... even better.

@X-27 Yep, I deleted your comment, in retrospect I should have let another mod handle it but included snarky comment to the effect of "You're only known around here for closing questions as bugs" --- this seems more like venting some personal grievance.

@ideasman42 Indeed, right now it seems we have things covered pretty well :) Plus as a user you have most moderation privileges anyway, and you'll have more time to make blender awesome and us users happy ;)
But it's nice to know that you are (probably) willing to commit the time if the need ever arise :)

A: Must every question formulation be so formal?

DavidThere are lots of question on this topic, such as: Editing questions to remove "thank you" etc Should 'Hi', 'thanks,' taglines, and salutations be removed from posts? What should I keep out of my posts and titles? Editing for Brevity? Are taglines & signatures disallowed? What is the policy on si...

Q: Editing questions to remove "thank you" etc

David"Any help would be much appreciated" "Thanks in advance" etc. Should we remove them from questions, or just leave them? I know there are other meta post on this topic Should 'Hi', 'thanks,' taglines, and salutations be removed from posts?, What should I keep out of my posts and titles? and all ha...

Here on SE such extra greetings/signatures are considered extraneous and generally discouraged. Not strictly, but the kind if thing you'd likely remove if editing a post for some reason already.
Tag edits are quite important (a tag is defined by it's posts. If posts are tagged inconsistently, then our tags are inconsistent and so pretty much useless). Once you get moderator tools, there is even a button specifically for editing just the tags. So IMO that looks like a good edit, as it adds a relevant tag and even addresses the main posts

@ideasman42 Well, I kinda was venting over this one question that you closed, blender.stackexchange.com/q/18938/5426 But I certainly didn't want you to withdraw your nomination!
@ideasman42 Closing things as bug reports was the only thing I could think of that you did when I made this video youtube.com/watch?v=VdIVaKwnPzM (I didn't know you were actually a developer that made patches for the bugs you closed)
I'm sure you do lots for the site that I don't notice because even I'm not as active as I should be.

3:33 AM
@gandalf3 Okay, thanks for showing that to me. I guess for me, part of it is that I'm still getting used to SE. I'm a bit more used to Forums and such like @David mentioned in the one question.
I'm just going to say that I was completely wrong in my original comment. It was one of those times where I said something without thinking it through, but I'm still a bit glad I did, because I learned something in the process. Thank you guys for being patient with me.

Yes, SE is quite different from most forums, and I can completely understand where you're coming from. I'm glad you've taken this as a learning opportunity :)

@TARDISMaker I'm glad you learned more about the SE system, and I now have your vote.
@gandalf3 thanks for explaining my edits.
and for talking to ideasman42

2:35 PM
BTW, since nobody else but you three is running, I feel out of place in the election. I am going to withdraw, we all know how it is going to end ;)

2:56 PM
@NoviceInDisguise you really dont have to do that.
I (only a little) want to see how many votes you would get.

No . . . it just looks stupid having my name surrounded by so many competent people
;)

@NoviceInDisguise you are quite competent, and I think you would make a good mod. Just there are 3 others that will probably get the three spots.

Most certainly

Somebody has to lose...!

2:58 PM
@NoviceInDisguise You might be surprised that you get a few votes

@GiantCowFilms you can run :)

Maybe you should add your artwork... pretty pictures can go along way

@David My ego is large enough that I actually think I might win somthing
XD

Try it!

2:59 PM
therefore I'm not running

but really, if you guys want an election, and want the work, run.

also if I did win that would be a bad thing... and there is no point in dropping out

@GiantCowFilms cant be that bad, gandalf3 and iklsr would be there to keep you in line.

@David I've slacked off the the review queues... and have a tendency to inflame disputes... not quite moderator material
@David Yes... I also don't have the badges
or the rep or the recent activity
@NoviceInDisguise We still want you to run!
although you can of course drop out

I already did . . .

3:01 PM
Oh D:

Maybe next year

@NoviceInDisguise what is the character limit for those posts

800 maybe?

maybe I'll give you guys my nomination speech here in chat for intertainment
@David you know?

3:02 PM
well I told you elections are never boring. I bet nobody expected it to turn out like that. I wonder what will happen next?

IDK
Maybe you three get the spots?

@GiantCowFilms A lot less then I wanted to say. Checking.

What badges to the measure... I want to know how many I have

I scored a total of 20/40, you gotta beat that :D

I think you have more badges then me though....
and more rep

3:04 PM
@NoviceInDisguise 1180

That is an odd number . . .
even, but odd

@GiantCowFilms rep is more important (to the ranking) then the bagdes

I have less

@NoviceInDisguise never mind just counted again it is 1200

3:10 PM
@David ??

Character limit for nominations

@iKlsR NoviceInDisguise and GiantCowFilms asked about the character limit for nominations.

@ideasman42 Ok, understood. I personally want to thank you for stepping up when we or rather I needed the help. I particularly liked your resolve to be decisive when closing.. I agree your time is best invested elsewhere and the micro managing of here offloaded to those who have a bit more time. Again, thank you!
