@Joe - re: batted balls etc. Yeah, I realised that and started getting worried about edge cases in the rules. If the ball does go under the SS's glove and the runner picks it up, are they out? Can this really be called a "thrown" ball in this case? (I suspect the umpires would apply the spirit of the rule and call them out, but...)
