> Hi Martin, you recently edited my question on sports.se: sports.stackexchange.com/posts/13813/revisions by adding the sports name into the question title. Is this a new policy? I was under the impression that the standing ideal is to leave out the sports name: sports.meta.stackexchange.com/q/15/1419 .
The above links are to What are the roles of the various officials in badminton? (the words "in badminton") were added by me.
@phihag I definitely think that communication related to sports.SE should is ideally done on the site (where it is visible to other users). Of course, there are possible exceptions - especially if it is a sensitive issue or something only tangentially related to the site - but I do not think it is the case here.
BTW commenting under your post with @Martin would ping me. (Editors are pingable using comment replies.)
To the point - maybe my edit was not ideal. I included it so that the question is clearer when somebody sees the title. (For example, in list of related questions or in list of hot questions etc.)
For example, if the title contains shuttlecock, it is easy to guess at least broadly what the sport is. "What are the roles of the various officials?" could be related to various sports.
I do not think it is really a big issue, I did this as a genuine attempt to improve the title, but feel free to revert the edit.
I was unaware of the meta discussion you linked to. (But I have seen plenty of question where sport is in the title and it seemed quite reasonable title: Why is field hockey played with water on the field?)
Please, let me know whether you have received notification after I invited you to this room Thanks!

@MartinSleziak I concur. I wanted to communicate without cluttering up the answer with comments. It's fine the way it currently is, I'm just curious whether the policy changed. Thanks for your reply

As I said, I was unaware of the meta post you mentioned and that the site has a "policy" on this.
It was just a judgement call - to me the title looked slightly better this way, but anyone's judgement is as good as mine.
