@Sue It's not really sad, it's just Scandinavian ;-). It's rather a pun. "Why sit inside when all hope is out(side)", it's not actually pessimistic. I rather interpret it as, when you feel bad, go into nature and you will feel better again.

@gerrit Cool! That's a much better way than I was looking at it, and so true. We have thousands of black birds (grackles, redwings, starlings) coming through. The chipmunks are awaking from their winter quiet time, and the days are staying lighter longer. Very hopeful and relaxing!
Many years ago we had African Pygmy goats. I was very sick, and just sitting outside staring into their eyes was so healing.

Had a slight incident yesterday....
Was climbing indoors with my climbing club, I was teaching someone to belay. Got to a top of a very easy v4 went to learn out and my knot came undone... :O
I had been distracted teaching her to belay and had forgotten to finish tying my figure eight
I just watched as the rope un did itself and slid out of my harness
10M off the ground
Somehow I manged to stay very calm in this situation and attached myself to a gear hanger using my belay carabiner
literally finger tips from disaster there... really gets you thnking

Q: How far would you need to fall for it to be fatal?

LiamA little grim this but I was discussing free soloing with a non-climber in work and I said "Well once you get over a certain height you're not going to survive a fall anyway so anything over this doesn't really make much of a difference." ... which got me thinking, how high is too high?...

LOL
Revisiting an old question....
