@alan2here it's kept intentionally (and frustratingly) vauge so people can't "game" their commitment, but just keep asking/answering and you'll hit your commitment. I do know that the requirements are larger if you don't ask/answer around...5? posts during the private beta stage

Q: A guide to moderating crypto.stackexchange yourself - close voting

NinefingersSo one thing that came out of our recent chat meeting was that (and I'd sort of guessed this by nosing at people's profiles to work out how much SE-wide experience you have) some of our high rep members are unsure about how the close vote system works. So, I'm going to take this opportunity to wr...

If it lead to greater community moderating it might lessen some of the "over moderating" worries

How many users do we have that can cast close votes?
is it 500+ rep or 750+ rep?
We only have 12 users that have enough rep to cast close votes
and 2 of those are mods already
so that leaves 10 users

It';s still enough for a few close votes, and seeing 3/4 names in the close vote list makes it look a LOT more like community moderating than just having a single mod close everything
and with cooperation 10 people with close vote power is plenty; the problem is there's almost no cooperation since few use meta or chat

The chat on cogsci is much more used than any of the other SEs I frequent
or at least, I use it much more

some sites totally neglect it, but I think it's an invaluable tool regardless of the site. It just seems some communities (gaming) have more interest in a chat or are more open to using chat
@JoshGitlin @StevenJeuris should we appropriate/liberate/steal that cogsci post for our meta? meta.crypto.stackexchange.com/questions/129/…
