@ChrisK I became inured to that over the years. The answers that require the most effort often get less upvotes than the easy to write ones.

Anyone know if this is how Mathematica computes determinants? Just out of curiosity.

@J.M.'stechnicaldifficulties still somewhat disappointing, even after you get used to it. I like to think of it as akin that "painting the bike shed" parable

If it's easier for people to process (or even just seemingly easier, for using fewer characters) then they're more likely to engage with it

But of course seemingly easier often means less robust, less general, less flexible, less adaptable, etc.
