@ChrisK Thanks, your action was correct, I was too hasty.

@MichaelE2 I agree, this person seems to have a bad attitude.
(towards you)
but also possibly not a native english speaker, which makes it hard to judge.

@MichaelE2 @CarlLange I already contacted that user. We will see, I am assuming he is confused about the policies here.

@MichaelE2 Meh, you don't owe them anything. I'd just move on and try to forget it.

@CarlLange @Kuba @ChrisK @user21 Thank you all for looking at it. I was thinking my comments, esp. the initial one, was unclear in some way and had caused the OP to take offense. (In retrospect, the point of the remark that the derivative and IC completely determines x[t] is not clear. In part that's because I probably misinterpreted the OP's Q. It may seem a confusing remark but not an offensive one, I think.)
I pretty much always assume that users have problems with English. It's safer to be tolerant. I myself have issues with dyslexia and weak eyesight esp. with regard to screens, which often translate into problems with English.

@MichaelE2 Your initial comment was direct, which a sensitive reader might interpret as curt. Maybe introducing your points with something like "I'm having problems understanding your question" would soften it, but I suspect OP would still over-react.

1:31 PM
@ChrisK Yep. I'm not sure I was having trouble understanding it (that is, at the time). I also think someone who doesn't check their posted code should tolerate being asked to check it when it does not work, not continue to refuse to check it. My reaction in the past to being my mistakes being found has been to feel embarrassed and apologetic.

How can you make teaching come alive and be more engaging? For many educators, the answer turns out to be not so much a single solution, but rather a set of tools that can vary according to subject and even by student. So today, I want to add something new to the pedagogical toolkit: Wolfram [...]
