How many others routinely find that people are only interested in methods using R or python? visibledata.co.uk/blog/2018/02/18/…
@MikeHoneychurch But you know how Martin is, right?

yeah I think so. Advocate of Ocaml, F#, not a big fan of wolfram??
nevertheless my experience has also been that people only want to talk about R and python. Rare to find someone who has even heard of Mathematica

@MikeHoneychurch Yeah, he was working for Wolfram for quite some time but left.
:)
And he is pretty good with Mathematica.

on the Mathematica forum here, a question is answered in minutes....when I ask question at the Maple stackoverflow, it can take days before any one even look at it, and if lucky, may be will get an answer (or even a comment) within a week. Very sad. No body is using Maple any more?

In Mathemativa 11.2, suppose I export a packed array. Is there any way to prevent Import from returning an unpacked array? A quick look suggest there isn't, but thought it wouldn't hurt to ask here.

For example, if the data is a packed array of reals, could the formats "Real128", "Real32", "Real64" help here?
Developer`PackedArrayQ@Import[Export["test.mx", Range[5]]]
>True

I think this is a MapThread bug

Q: MapThread Not Mapping on Ragged Array

EdmundMapThread is not mapping over ragged arrays. It is my expectation that it should map given Map's behavior on ragged arrays and no information to the contrary in MapThread's documentation. Map works fine on ragged array. Map[f, Range@Range@3, {2}] {{f[1]}, {f[1], f[2]}, {f[1], f[2], f[3]}} ...
