@Emadkareem drop the DynamicWrapper and simply use Table to generate a bunch of graphics with different values of theta. You can export a list of images as a GIF.

I am using Dynamic[x] to track changes between two AbsoluteTime boundaries. When I want to use the result Dynamic[x] I for example cannot use the output to calculate the DateList as the Dynamic[x] returns a number in exponential format such as 3.70482`*^9 and DateList complains. How can I get an output from Dynamic that DateList will process?

2:21 AM
here is the code snippet: Slider[Dynamic[x], {AbsoluteTime[{2017, 1, 1}],
AbsoluteTime[{2017, 12, 31}]}, Appearance -> "UpArrow",
ImageSize -> 640] ; DateList[Dynamic[x]]

DateList::arg: Argument 3.70482*10^9 cannot be interpreted as a date or time input.

@Matariki use FromAbsoluteTime

@b3m2a1 Thanks!
@b3m2a1 Unfortunately I got the same error message. It works with FromAboluteTime[10^9] but not with the output of dynamics.

2:47 AM
@Matariki oh I misunderstood your problem. Sorry about the shallow reading. Your problem is in not realizing how Dynamic works.
It displays one way, but try FullForm@Dynamic[x].
You need to put the complete expression inside the Dynamic.
i.e.: Dynamic[DateList[x]] No FromAbsoluteTime necessary.

@VitaliyKaurov how do I edit the title of a post on Wolfram Community. I missed a space in a post I just made: community.wolfram.com/groups/-/m/t/1251138
And the edit pane won't let me put it in

I thought 11.3 would be out by Xmass. But so far no news about. I wonder how much longer it will be before it is out. Does WRI still make major releases like 12, 13 etc.. or it is going to be point releases from now on? I assume at one point they have to make version 12?
I like the Maple and Matlab release cycles. They make major release once per year at about the same time. Around march or april.

@b3m2a1 Doh, thanks! Got it wrapped the wrong way.

6:38 AM
@Nasser S.W. has talked about their release cycle in several places. Point releases are for smaller features. 12, 13 etc. is for major new features.

how do I edit a question I started on writing without having it be displayed while I am writing it? It was a long question. So I deleted it half way, to finish it later. But now I find I can't edit it while it is deleted. I have to undelete it first. to edit it. But if I undelete it, it will be in display while I am editing it.
may be I can just start a new question. and just keep that one deleted for good.
There should be a way though to edit my question while it is deleted. This makes no sense not to be able to do this.

@b3m2a1 Community title has limited number of characters. I shortened your title to a potential version. Now if you edit it you will see - you can type in and change title again. So it is editable under constraint of finite width ;-)
Very nice post BTW - thank you !

@VitaliyKaurov ahhh of course. I did not even think to delete! The new title is great. Thanks.

Any ideas about this? I'm stuck.

Q: Sub-packages and auto-completion

SzabolcsI have a Mathematica application that consists of two sub-packages, corresponding to the contexts foo` and foo`b`. The package foo` uses functions from foo`b`. Therefore foo`b` must be loaded before foo` in some way (there are multiple ways to achieve this). If I do this, auto-completion will b...

Is anyone aware of a situation where MemberQ[PropertyList[g], EdgeWeight] would not correctly determine if g is edge-weighted? Is there a better fast way to determine if g is edge weighted?
I am paranoid about this stuff at this point. You never know what will go wrong.
WeightedGraphQ returns True for vertex-weighted graphs as well, so I cannot use it. I used to use weightedGraphQ = WeightedGraphQ[#] && PropertyValue[#, EdgeWeight] =!= Automatic &;, but PropertyValue[#, EdgeWeight] is very slow for large graphs.

1:15 PM
No, of course that doesn't work.

Q: How can I check that a graph is edge weighted fast?

SzabolcsI need to check if a graph is edge-weighted while maintaining good performance. This should be an easy task, but it is not. It is a good example of why it is so terribly frustrating to work with graphs in Mathematica. Here are three test graphs: a vertex-weighted one, an edge-weighted one, and...

It doesn't help that much of the internal Graph-stuff is Locked, so I can't even look into it. I wonder why they do that ...

@Szabolcs one nice thing in Maple is that one can read all the source code of Maple right there. Listing, with line numbers also. I wish Mathematica would allow one to do the same.

Could someone please help me bracket a bug by version? Subgraph[Graph[{}, {}], {}] does not evaluate in 10.0. Which version fixed this problem?
Actually if someone could just try it in 11.1, which I don't have handy, that would be great!

4:01 PM
@Szabolcs It doesn't evaluate in 11.1.

@C.E. Thanks! Then it got fixed in 11.2.

Does anyone here know how best to advocate for a feature? I'm trying to push for a very small thing (enabling GitHub Sites-style URLs in the cloud) but beyond posting about it on Wolfram Community and posting an example post there for why it would be useful I've got no idea what other avenues for registering my support for it there are.
I wouldn't be surprised if there are none
But if there are they'd be useful to know

You can send feedback here.

@C.E. thanks I will do that

I never got the Mathematica Stack Exchange Weekly Newsletter from this forum for Tuesday Dec 19,. 2017. I wonder if the automated system is down for xmass or has any one else got it? I get this every week on tuesday, but did not get it for this week yet.

@b3m2a1 There was once an impressive online-petition for multiple undo: undo-for-mathematica.alaifari.com Maybe something like this helps? I would sign it. Though I would really rather use a Wolfram Private Cloud for hosting my packages. A bit expensive still unfortunately ...
