Does anyone know how the pricing scheme for this newest release works?
i am being quoted 190£ for going from 10.0.2 to 11.0.0.0 for my Mathematica Home Edition, in the past when it was a 0.2 or 0.3 upgrade they quoted me about 65£ if i recal corectely.
I think i am asking if the apparent price increase are the same for everyone else? If sales and discounts applies for upgrades to. and if so, when are probable dates to expect sales/discounts. Because this upgrade cost are getting rather steep for my wallet.

@stian1986. That price likely included 1 year of Personal License Service. Without the service it is $95 (around 73£).

I was also puzzled over that price. Indeed it seems to be the case that there's that extra service. Is it possible to buy it without? For me, no such alternative was available.

@kirma. The webpage (for Home Use) lists two options: Personal License Service Plus and Personal License Service. You have to click "Upgrade without service" (towards the bottom of the window) to see that price. (Marketing folks in action.)

@JimBaldwin Hmmm....

Has anyone else had an issue where version 9 can download curated data such as from CountryData[] but version 11 gives an internet connectivity error from the same machine? Both versions give a positive response from the "Test Internet Connectivity" button, though in version 11 it takes a lot longer.

6:55 AM
"Welcome to Personal License Service" ... well, now I know what I bought.

7:16 AM
Have the folks around here who are eligible to an upgrade to Mathematica 11 all received theirs? I am still waiting for an email/something to pop up on my user page.

7:39 AM
@rcollyer Thanks, I will take a look on that in a free time :)

Is there a way to use DataReversed without it turning the ticks upside down? I tried specifying the ticks manually, but it just reverses the order I give them in. If I try to be clever and write them in reverse order, it doesn't care and just puts it in like that
Well, one option is just specifying the labels at the inverse of their coordinate, but that is a bit tedious

Q: What is the maximum size for a animated gif?

Leandro Maciel de CarvalhoI think I tried a couple of times to post an animated gif and sometime the file did not appear in the question. then I ask: what is the maximum size for this type of file?

Has anyone had any trouble with auto FrameTicks in ListPlot after upgrading to MMA11? With 10.4, I'd get a value of "0.04" for a tick, for example, but with the upgrade I get "0.04000000000000000083"

@JimBaldwin well I didn't know about RStudio's manipulate until just now.. but it does seem to have died a death and have been replaced with [the thing I use everyday] shiny.rstudio.com. Anyhow, thanks for surfacing manipulate for me.

@Kuba one thing to note, wrapFunctionBlockfails sometimes, inexplicably. I have not narrowed down why, but then I have to resort to crafting it by hand. Actually, I often craft it by hand since it is simpler to send to others, use as an example, etc., but wrapFunctionBlock is used in my tests as it simplifies things, dramatically.

@Sascha Got an email from Wolfram support this morning: "A new version of your product has been released and is available through your organization's site license" but still only 10.4.1 available for download. Patience...

Now that's amore. ;)

Q: It´s possible to delete some revisions that I have done?

Leandro Maciel de CarvalhoIt´s possible to delete some revisions that I have done? I would like to know about this because I consider some steps unnecessary.

There’s a Computed Pokémon nearby! Here is a Poké Spikey. This will help you catch ’em all! In this blog post I will share with you several data insights about the viral social media phenomenon that is Pokémon GO. First I will get you familiarized with the original 151 Pokémon that have now invaded our [...]

Is there a better way to apply a color function to a Graphics3D@GraphicsComplex[...] or a 3D MeshRegion?

@JasonB if you can somehow leverage VertexColors...
I'm now much less enamored of this Pokémon business ever since it was discovered that my immediate area is a hot spot for these. :P

6:56 PM
@JasonB I usually do something like g /. GraphicsComplex[p_, d_, opts___] :> GraphicsComplex[p, d, VertexColors -> cf /@ p, opts] (or cf @@@ p depending on cf), unless the polygons have their own vertex colors already.

@J.M. I recall desperate parents talking to their kids in the local zoo couple weeks ago... "hey, kids, how about looking at those animals instead of the phone for a while?" This was in front of Siberian tigers.

@MichaelE2 and @J.M. Thanks I'll give that a shot! As it is, just making that plot above crashed my MMA a couple of times, maybe this will be better, especially since it will keep the result as a GraphicsComplex

Why it is so hard to refer to "delayed current context"?
I want to define f[]:= $Context`x=5
Why can't I?!

8:23 PM
Because $Context already has that ` at the end? This is hacky but I think it works:
f[] := Set[Evaluate@Symbol[ToString[$Context] <> "x"], 5]

@JasonB Yep I know why my example doesn't work, I just wanted to show what I need :)
@JasonB It won't work in general, e.g. when x is already assigned.
Assignments are easy anyway, you can go with: mathematica.stackexchange.com/q/783/5478
The problem is that I want to use arbitrary number of "unparsed" symbols in and arbitrary expression

@Sascha I received my notification two days ago.

Seems the upgrade process is still under way

@JasonB In fact, I think the setting of VertexColors can be a packed array of dimensions {n, 3} of RGB values. It doesn't have to be a list of colors per se.
