@m_goldberg I did receive your email. I am sorry for not responding. In additional to my poor record on such things I have had an unfortunate distraction this week.

@Mr.Wizard. I just wanted to be sure it got to you. Take whatever time you need to answer. I am quite happy to put off the job as long as I can :-)

@SimonWoods You know, I thought I'd seen a question on this before...

Maybe a bit of a meta question. Say I have some question regarding a relatively large (not copy pastable in a question) dataset that originated from a bunch of code, but the code itself is not exactly essential to the problem at hand. Should I then just pose the question starting from the dataset itself (maybe on pastebin) and maybe state where it comes from, or should I build up the problem so that one can reproduce the dataset?

@user3183724 I think either will be fine, but in general it is better to make questions self-contained. The pastebin will go away eventually. The question may survive it. So if you can include code to generate the data (at the end of the post where it is not distracting), that would be best,

@Szabolcs I've started using gist for pasting data. I feel like having a bunch of superfluous code in a question can be very distracting

Q: Can't Change Vote!

N.J.EvansI downvoted an answer because I thought it didn't satisfy the original request, but the user who provided the answer replied to my comment that the solution was generalized a bit, and that a different case was provided from what OP used as an example. It seems silly that I can't update my vote ...

Heh. Someone has removed those v11 results from search.wolfram.com now...

@kirma They prolly do not want people to be spoiled just yet. :D

@J.M. Past several releases they have been surprisingly "open" - at least not being too pedantic, at least about what is visible on their online documentation.
