Hi every body. Please help me this quetion. I am solving some trigonometric equations. E.G
TrigExpand@Reduce[2 Cos[x + Pi/7] - Sqrt[3] == 0, x, Reals]
My question is: In output, how can I rename C[1] in to k?

@minthao_2011 Replace C[1] by k
TrigExpand@Reduce[2 Cos[x + Pi/7] - Sqrt[3] == 0, x, Reals]  /. C[1] -> k
@ArnoudBuzing Thanks for everything! I'll file a bug-report tomorrow about the front-end issue with Save Graphics as and give my system details.

@ halirutan Thank you very much.
Another question. With the equation
TrigExpand@
Reduce[2 Cos[x]^2 + 2 Sqrt[2] Sin[x] - 3 == 0, x,
Reals] // FullSimplify
How can I write the solution in the form x = Pi/4 + 2C[1] Pi...?

@minthao_2011 This is probably too advance to understand it right away, but I don't have any more time to explain it right now:
sol = (TrigExpand@Reduce[2 Cos[x]^2 + 2 Sqrt[2] Sin[x] - 3 == 0, x, Reals] //
      FullSimplify // Last) /. C[1] -> k;
and then you do
Equal @@@ ExpandAll[Flatten[Solve[#, x] & /@ List @@ sol]]
Sorry, have to leave.

Thank you.

Is there a test version of Count function? i.e. Count[list, test]

@Felix You can use a pattern test like this: Count[list, _?(function &)] or you can do Length@Select[list, function], those are the options that come to mind.

Thanks! I forgot about that pattern test:)

@ArnoudBuzing Great, thanks!

Argh, I can't seem to get antialising to work with 3D scenes. I've seen this question‌, but it's not helpful. MATHEMATICA_GL_FBO=1 does nothing and moving the quality slider to the right does nothing. In NVidia X Server Settings I have set "override application settings" and enabled antialiasing. I have Xubuntu 15.04 and Nvidia GT 730.

Has anyone with a usual academic license already gotten 10.2?
@ArnoudBuzing Thank you Arnoud! :-)

Hi @TimStone, are you around? It seems I set a bounty on an unanswered question before I even realised that it was a duplicate ... is it possible to correct this embarrassment ... ? (remove the bounty at least, I don't care about losing rep score)

9:17 AM
@Mr.Wizard Thank you! You really don't sleep much :)

10:14 AM
@Szabolcs Nope, I'm still waiting.

@Szabolcs @shrx Don't know what the usual academic license is, but I'm working at University and got the update notice yesterday
@Felix Another one in V10 is to use
CountsBy[Range[1000] , PrimeQ]
and to extract the number of positives
CountsBy[Range[1000] , PrimeQ][True]

Thanks halirutan!

Can someone program something for me? Any program will do.

12:03 PM
@Szabolcs Got it two days ago with a student's license I have through the university.

I was really hoping I would get it before the weekend.

@MatsGranvik Sorry, what?

I feel for you. I got 10.1 more than a week after what seemed like everybody else last time. It seems to be very random.

12:36 PM
I just entered my license number to the upgrade request page (a moment before there was even official announcement of 10.2), and got into purchase process. And I'm just a Home edition user.
Has happened before, too. WRI still hasn't told me by email that 10.2 is available.

@kirma Is there an upgrade request page somewhere?

12:51 PM
@Szabolcs Why don't you just use the trial until you get it?

1:09 PM
@halirutan The trial won't export, right?

It would seem that I overestimated my source when I answered a question about the sampling method used by Plot. The algorithm that is currently used is still not given, if anyone wants to give it a shot.
This is how the sampling looks nowadays:
This is a comparison between the algorithm I implemented and the built-in:

@Szabolcs I'm using the site license of our university, and I got 10.2 four days ago.

1:46 PM
@Szabolcs Are you speaking about something specific, because exporting images works.

I hate when this happens
the OP deleted/undeleted/deleted several times in a row without explanation
Sometimes I wish a kick command like in the old BBSs

5:56 PM
testDeriv = D[Piecewise[List@{2 x, x >= 1`30}, 0], x]
in testDeriv 2 becomes inexact while 1 becomes exact. Strange

6:12 PM
When I typed this experssion: U = (E0/d^2 + E1/2*d^2 * (1+Cos[theta]))*(r-r0)^2 - F*r*Cos[theta] I get : Syntax::sntxi: Incomplete expression; more input is needed .
why?

6:59 PM
@psimeson You surely have some dangling previous definitions. Try it in a fresh session

10:16 PM
@belisarius Eureqa can be used for free.

10:46 PM
@SjoerdC.deVries Where? How?
A link!
