After using Mathematica for a while, you start to think you are on top of the richness of the language. You become familiar with a range of different functions and programming styles. But in fact, you haven’t even scratched the surface.

I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to look up the documentation from time to time, even for the functions you think you already know. There are so many options and additional arguments to workhorse functions that you might not have appreciated. Here are a few of my favorites. Some of them were noted in a question I once asked about the issue. …

Q: Where do I find personal messages that someone has sent me by using @username?

George Wolfe@Verbeia suggested that I might respond to a question by someone interested in finance, and I would like to do so, but I only saw her message by accident when I was poking around in my user area, and now I can't find it even thought I saw it only one hour ago. I've looked everywere in my user ar...

@Verbeia yeah, an increase of 500 visits/day is nothing the sneeze at. But, I was looking at the questions/day which puts us right up there with the other graduated sites. We're not on top, nor will we ever be, but it is nice to see.

Why is Table HoldAll and not HoldFirst?

4:01 PM
@Rojo Because otherwise Table would have no way to localize variables in the iterators, since iterator expressions would evaluate before Table would have a chance to look at them.

Almost as quiet here as in Math...

@J.M.: Howdy. I missed your gravatar so I thought I'd drop in :-)

@belisarius Indeed it is. I waited ten minutes then moved on. I was just wondering why you voted to close this question: stackoverflow.com/q/12756241/618728
It is not the best question around but it doesn't really seem to deserve closing.

@Mr.Wizard I believe I voted as a dup of another ReplaceRepeated question. Perhaps I made a mistake :(
