opiniont about this old post ,please ! Technically, it probably makes sense to speak of a $0\times 0$-matrix , but it is a weird idea and probably quite useless.

@Peter There is even the concept of the determinant of an empty matrix. I have no problems with it. As the value of an empty sum or an empty product, it can be useful e.g. in recursion formulas. Just my 2 ct.
 
A good point you mentioned ! If we consider the empty product, the result is $1$. If we consider the empty sum (of empty products) , the result is $0$. Which is considered to be the "determinant" ?
 
According to the thread that I linked to, the determinant of the empty matrix is equal to one.

@Peter I admit that this may not be a good reason, but I think that to begin a text-only question with the words “The result is in the picture…” strongly suggests that this (except for the note and the observation) was the result of COPY + PASTE.
