@amWhy Hi! How are you doing?
Sorry, I just finished an online class.

@quid Thank you for the assertion, if you need any help in enforcing new rules we will be there. But please recognize that you make the rules and we follow them, if anything a "community's will" is not even expressed completely except in the moderator elections.

Please delete this I don't know why I made such a terrible contribution to this PSQ , even ages ago.

6:45 AM
(I recall someone posted an SQL query somewhere, saying that you can take a look at your answers or contributions which are in danger of being deleted or closed. Can somebody find that script?)

D1 and this answer is nonsense. (by the same OP)

@soupless It is not, strictly speaking, a PSQ, as the asker has described some of their own work. I still don't think that it is a high quality question (and your answer was really just a comment), but it is not an archetypal PSQ.

Ok. I'll keep this in mind. Thank you.

1:26 PM
hi

@qwertyuiop Hello, you seem to be new here.

Hello, @qwertyuiop !

2:16 PM
@soupless I don't think that it is a PSQ.

2:55 PM
Please keep in mind that "PSQ" stands for "problem statement question". These are questions which contain essentially nothing more than the statement of a problem, as might be found in the last couple of pages of a chapter in an elementary textbook.
PSQs are an example of a low quality question. Not every low quality question is a PSQ---there are non-PSQs which should be closed.

@XanderHenderson If I understand it correctly, PSQs belong to low quality questions. Did I understand it correctly?

I don't think that the verb "to belong" is quite right, but yes, PSQs are a type of low quality question.
The set of PSQs is a proper subset of the set of low quality questions.

Are there other subsets aside from the set of PSQs?

But there exist low quality questions which are not PSQs, such as long, rambling posts which never get to a point, questions which ask for the opinions of users, etc.
Arguably, the question you highlighted is a low quality question–it is a question statement with a description of what the asker tried, but no actual work shown.

Ok. This is now noted.
All this time, some questions that I am mentioning are not specifically PSQs, but low quality questions.

3:34 PM
≈PSQ again.

@user21820 Closed. One more down vote -> open for deletion.

@amWhy Thanks! It's up for deletion now!

@user21820 And : gone!

@TeresaLisbon Thanks!

@TeresaLisbon I was just going to ping you on that! You must have read my mind!

3:45 PM

That was excellent coordination @user21820 @amWhy, deleted in five minutes following closure.

D Weird title !

@Peter: Your last two have very negative score and no answer, so they will be auto-removed eventually.

The wrong answer needs just one more downvote for us to delete-vote it.

@user21820 I already dv'd the answer.

@amWhy Thanks. I'm hoping we can get one more soon!

@user21820 Indeed!

@user21820 Ready to delete, cap'n!

@user21820, @Teresa Strike three! It's "out'a here!"

4:31 PM
@amWhy Thanks. So fast I didn't even get a chance lol.

@amWhy Coordination! By the way , I don't know how pinned my message to the right side, but I'm greatly happy about it! Haha, thanks to whoever it was.

@TeresaLisbon You're a room owner and you can pin messages that you want to stay for 2 weeks on the right.

@TeresaLisbon as I blush... A great and often missed bottom line motivator for some PSQ and low quality question answerers, who tend to often fall back to "I'm here to help" rather than admit what they know would be an unpopular reason (rep seeking).

@user21820 Yeah, that is true, I'd almost forgotton, haha!

I pinned it, because too many mods on this site fall back on excusing rep seeking-at-all-costs, an mere dedication to "help people".

4:38 PM
@amWhy Remarkable it is, how we even decided to argue about it yesterday. The arguments succeeding yesterday's one hour interruption were enough to see this.

@user21820 But you must admit, it feels nice when someone else sees fit to star or pin one's comment.

@amWhy There!

Visit the cafe, @Teresa, @user21820, to note it is roughly three hours until the election voting for a mod on MO finishes today.

Alright, I'm off.

@amWhy Coming right away!

4:44 PM
two of my D's are gone, two need still one delete-vote.

@Peter snrk

@Peter And those have got the delete vote they deserved!

For the sake of curiousity : What does "snrk" mean ?

@Peter Short hand for "snark?"

It is onomatopoeia, indicating a kind of snort / laugh.

4:51 PM
This seems to explain something regarding that? Oho, I thought we'd caught another Xanderism!

D has vernacular meaning. The construction "Two of my Ds are gone" struck me as funny in light of that vernacular meaning.

@XanderHenderson It is another Xanderism!.
@XanderHenderson Like "Argh", or "ugh" ??

@amWhy More like "I am drinking a cup of coffee, and someone said something funny, which caused me to snort some coffee out of my nose".

@XanderHenderson OMG! When I was a kid, before school, eating cereal and milk with my siblings, and my hilarious brother would say something funny, and caused me to reflexively laugh/snort milk out of my nose! I know that that well.
... occasionally, milk and a cheerio!.

@XanderHenderson Also sorry about whatever happened yesterday, I sincerely hope I don't cross such boundaries again as I did yesterday. But for now : Oh dear, I just remembered, MO elections and Tamil New Year, I've got too many things to look forward to in the next three hours! (and the crawl!)
And it's a public holiday here,..... YES!

5:00 PM
@TeresaLisbon I wasn't upset, but it was clear from the direction that the conversation was going that I didn't need to be there. My intention was to leave before things escalated further. Given that this was perceived as an act of cowardice, I am comfortable that I made the right decision.

@XanderHenderson Let bygones be bygones for now, oh I've got SO much to look forward to in a few hours! I've got a crawl to do, so see you lot shortly!
We will, of course, find time to discuss the issue however. By no means is it brushed under the carpet, and we will be back with better arguments, and more evidence. Evidence is being collected in the crawls, everything is going to be handy when needed.

@TeresaLisbon You can afford to lighten up on the crawl for a day. Celebrate Tamil! You have plenty of time to catch up tomorrow on the MO election. After all, Tamil happens only once a year!! ;-)

@amWhy "தெரிந்த இனத்தொடு தேர்ந்தெண்ணிச் செய்வார்க்கு
அரும்பொருள் யாதொன்றும் இல்" (There is nothing too difficult for those who, before they act, reflect well themselves, and thoroughly consider the matter with chosen friends). Thank you, I will not crawl today!
That's what some Tamil poet way back in time wrote (we don't know when he existed!)

@TeresaLisbon Unfortunately, one participant here is still making digs in a passive aggressive manner, so it may be sometime before another party is grounded enough to have an adult conversation without running away when the going gets tough. You do not need to apologize for the conversation in this chat from yesterday. People in positions of power often blame those just doing their best to make their cases. You said nothing yesterday, out of line. Keep your head up!! And and be proud.

@amWhy Sure!

please delete this answer. The contents of this post have been made a comment to another answer in same thread. Also see the discussion in comments where the poster is OK with deletion, but it appears they are unable to delete the post themselves.

@ParamanandSingh Downvoted for now, needs two more downvotes for deletion.

6:32 PM
I got a random notification from a nonexistent post. Is something wrong with the site or was it just deleted in the interlude? math.stackexchange.com/questions/4099566/…

This post is deleted

@user64742 Who knows. Better to ask on meta.
@Peter @user64742 hasn't enough rep to know it was deleted, let alone to identify the post. Likely that user bookmarked it, or followed it, hence the notification.

@amWhy I only wanted to inform him/her.

@amWhy it’s the post we discussed yesterday therefore it is inappropriate to harass meta/mods.

@Peter Oh, I wasn't scolding you. Thanks for noting that for the user. I was just trying to add a comment for the user you were responding.

6:38 PM
@Peter I’m aware. But how I got a notification from a deleted post is beyond me. Deleted posts shouldn’t be editable or commentable.

@user64742 ???? Your comment is confusing.
@user64742 Did you book mark the question, or check to follow it? I've done that accidentally before. Those are reasons you may have been notified of it's deletion. As I suggested, please ask your question on meta, not here.

Mods won’t immediately yell at me for asking on meta?
I’ll just drop it. Not worth inciting anger.

Happy Tamil New Year to everybody here! Looking forward to a year that brings a sea of change on math.se , for the better. Starting with the MO elections, and their ramifications on our site.

@user64742 Asking on meta is not harrassing a mod. Just ask nicely, without insinuations. No asking your question there will no incite anger among anyone there, and mods are hardly ever present there anyway. Perhaps Michael Sleziak, the man who knows it all, well recall a meta post, or a network wide post that addresses this issue.
^^^^ OOPS, that is Martin Sleziak!

6:54 PM
@TeresaLisbon If someone finds a wonder-weapon against the corona-virus , I could well live with MSE drifting away :) But apart from that, I agree. I wonder why some people use other dates , are the reasons religious ?

@Peter I don't think it's religious, some reasons are given here. It's mostly about following different celestial bodies , although these bodies may have with time acquired a religious connotation.

7:20 PM
@amWhy I’m not going to get into it. There have times where anger has been incited due to “wasting the time of meta”, so I’m going to just defer to it being a waste of time.

@user64742 That's your choice to make. But you might want to start thinking about wasting the time of users in chats, and the time of network-wide site mods you solicit when you become to trigger-happy with casting flags in chats, too. Just a thought. That's all, not an accusation, not to be offensive, just an observation.
Just to be clear. With respect to your question here today, I would be interested in knowing the answer about such notifications, and what prompts them (like the notification you received today after the deletion of a post you commented on). I cannot foresee of any reason as to why such a question would cause anyone whatsoever, and certainly not mod, any ire or impatience. But as I said, that decision is yours to make. Just wanted to clarify I think it is a good question, and I would ...
upvote it, if it appeared on meta. Best to you!

7:46 PM
Side note : I did not realize that THREE positions were open. Was there some kind of purge on MO? Perhaps they operate on some term basis, so the terms of multiple mods must have expired simultaneously. I see some replies there on why they think that moderators should have terms.

@TeresaLisbon Yes, it seems that is a more current, alive, topic there than it is here; But there are advocates for term limits here, as well. I do think after serving a term, mods should have the option to run again, to be elected anew. I just don't like indefinite appointments, which often tern into only honorariums, or emeritus, but essentially inactive.

No surprises, the three highest candidate score candidates, won!

@TeresaLisbon Where'd you find them??

@amWhy In the mathoverflow Mods Chatroom here
I'll have to go in a minute or so, good night! Oof, what a tense day.

@TeresaLisbon Good night, sleep well!

@user64742 Somebody pinged you in a comment before the post got deleted. You hadn't read the comment yet, thus it appeared in your inbox but you couldn't see it anymore. CC @amWhy
