Hey there, @XanderHenderson!

4:36 PM
Thanks! @amWhy

@user21820 you betcha!

@amWhy Mornin'.
Not really here. ;)

4:50 PM
@XanderHenderson Not really mornin' in your zone, or "you're" not really here! I tend to believe the latter, because it's about 8:50 am where you are :-P

I'm not really here. :P

@XanderHenderson I get it!! You're actually "working"!!
In that case, I'm really "not here" either. It's my evil twin!

5:11 PM
@AlexanderGruber I tried pinging you from the math mods' office, but it didn't take: See my comment there: math.stackexchange.com/questions/301837/…, and my two subsequent comments. Feel free to chime in on the matter and/or the flag I raised. Just not sure how strict to be enforcing age of engagement on SE.
Hi, @BillDubuque. I hope all is good on your end, (or at least "mostly good"!)

@amWhy Totally off-topic, and I should be working, but... @amWhy's evil twin:

@XanderHenderson Lol!! I didn't think I could grow facial hair!!

Neither did I, but here we are.
:P

@XanderHenderson You crack me up. Thanks for the laugh. But yes, I should be getting to work myself...
Comic relief!! We all need it once in a while!
@XanderHenderson But it's el sábado?! You, like me, are probably working through the weekend, I'm guessing!

Grading, job applications, and a thesis to write.
I believe that the kids these days use the phrase "eff em ell".

5:21 PM
@XanderHenderson lol! Hope your daughter's doing well, too!

Anywho... back to work.
She is doing well. Thank you for asking.

It's good to see the number of "close-voted questions" in the "close vote queue" well under 300, where it was before returning here on Jan 28th. I know that's not a function of me, per se. But it's good to see the numbers down by a third.
Hi, @JyrkiLahtonen!
Just curious, @Jyrki, how, phonetically, your first name is pronounced? Is the J like a Y?

6:04 PM
Correct @amWhy. If you know any German, then you can think of the first syllable, J-Y-R, as being identical to the beginning of the German male name Jürgen. Our 'Y' is always a vowel and sounds like the German umlaut-U.

@JyrkiLahtonen Thanks! I've pretty much figured that, lest I default to stupid English and call you, phonetically, "jerky!" :P Glad I know better!.

@Jyrki My own last name was originally from my great grandfather, Miaskowki/Miaskowsky (Prussia/Polish origins), with the $w$ pronounced with a "v". It got altered at Ellis Island, just as many American immigrants ended up with "hackneyed" "stupid English" translations!

This question deserves to be closed, primarily because it is a problem statement question. It was also asked by a fifth grader, which violates the terms of service participants who become members must agree to.
The answerer also clearly know that the asker was a ten-year-old, and despite violating the terms of service, has retained their answer. In any case, regardless of the age of the asker, the linked question is poor, lacking details and clarity. The post should be closed.

@amWhy Things are just ducky considering how much worse they could be - I could be on quarantined cruise ship with covid-19 infected cranks shouting that my posts are "fake math" because I use too much "orange" and too few words, that I downvote their answers only due to pet peeves, that I should be suppressed for drawing too much attention to serious (site) health problems, that I post so many links only to "show off", etc.
Thankfully they haven't all happened simultaneously (yet!) It's a wonderful world...

Well, I for one don't think you use too much orange, nor have I every accused you of doing fake math, or using too few words. I think you seldom downvote answers do to pet peeves. And there are serious (site) health problems. I don't fault you for posting links, because, after awhile, why reinvent the wheel. In any case, you are a huge asset to this site. I only regret that we sometimes "butt heads" when we should be working more together. I really wish we could do that.
Bill, I think with respect to "substance", you are virtually always "spot on". But I think you and I clash really only over "style" (not the style of your posts or mine, but in the we we interact with each other). Anyway, Thank goodness neither of us is on a quarantined cruise ship!!

6:48 PM
@amWhy I appreciate the olive branch. I think many of the past problems could have been avoided by giving others the benefit of the doubt before leaping to conclusions of ill intent. If there is serious doubt one can (politely) inquire - in a tactful way that it is not insulting. Presumably we are all here for the same reason - to improve site quality - even though we may have different views on how to best achieve that. Looking forward to friendlier, healthier interactions in the future.

@BillDubuque Indeed, @BillDubuque. I am looking forward to that as well.

7:01 PM
D-A? Perhaps not so soon? Feedback?

7:11 PM
@BillDubuque I do think that you use too much orange, but I would never downvote a post for that reason. :P

7:23 PM
@XanderHenderson I know only ONE MAN who USES TOO MUCH ORANGE!! (and it's not Bill) :P

7:43 PM
@XanderHenderson Get with the program - orange is the new blackboard bold!

@BillDubuque Love that pun on "Orange is the new Black......." :-)

@amWhy Does his name rhyme with "Trump"?

@XanderHenderson No, it rhymes with "Thump" and "Stump" and "Dump" :P
@XanderHenderson Well, I guess, it does rhyme with "the One who shall remain unnamed"!
