Maybe we should at least leave a star at anorton's message (or the message following it), which could help as a reminder to keep an eye on those delete votes. So perhaps the way to go is unpin but leave a star?

I though I saw them after I cast my reopen votes. But I am not sure. (As I did not know this, I did not really look whether they were removed from the post.)

@Fundamental Wouldn't it be useful to keep this message pinned, so that new users who come here are aware of that?

I know that I might pin it myself as a room owner, but maybe it already was on the starboard and you ahve unpinned/unstarred it for some reason.

Re-pinned, but I expect it to be of limited use, since non-room-owners can't star or pin own messages.

But they would at least know about the policy.

So they will not be surprised if they star something and the star disappers, for example.

And also they will know that to see the unresolved request it suffices to check starred messages.

In any case, most of the messages posted recently in this room were by room owners or mods.

My guess is that mods can do most of the things that room owners can do.

Mods can do everything that room owners can do. And then some.
