I'm not going to ride them for a while though.
Need to get rotors and a cassette first. Then I'll need two Thursdays where I leave work very early. On thursdays the self-help bike repair shop is open. Since I will need a cassette tool and large torque wrench.
And lastly, I'll wait for the winter to end. Don't want to spoil these with all the salt.
In the meantime I've knobby tyres on my stock wheel set.
However, they will server for motivation to get rolling before spring arrives.
Do you think a cable lock with a 2 mm thick cable offers better security than one with a 1.6 mm cable?
Neither will hold against a wire cutter.
I expect both will be awkward to cut with a pocket knife.
I think it will be more likely I bring a 50 g bike lock along than a 80 g lock.
Otoh it's not very likely that a bike is stolen in less than 15 min out of sight. Perhaps I simply ought to risk that instead of faffing with locks.
