Unfortunately, this question isn't a good fit for Stack Overflow because it's too broad for our format. You might try programmers.stackexchange.com Besides MySQL, what programming environment can you use? Dotnet, Java, php, node, what? To choose between a desktop or web app you'll need to consider your environment. If your goal is purely learning, web app skills are probably more valuable. — O. "Here's my code, make it better" is not a question, it is a task you can give to programmers you pay. — timgeb 14 secs ago

While I find this question interesting, I don't think it's consider on-topic on Stack Overflow. I think there may be a way to word the question to fit, but you might also have better luck on either Code Review (since you're asking about working code) or Software Engineering (note I'm not a part of either of those sites so it may not be a good fit for either) — Tas 37 secs ago

This question is off-topic because it's not within the scope for this site, as defined in What topics can I ask about here? Also see: What types of questions should I avoid asking? You may be able to ask on another Stack Exchange site, perhaps Project Management or Software Engineering. Be sure to read the help center's on-topic page for any site on which you intend to post a question. — Makyen 56 secs ago
