Pascal would be French? I think Ruby is Japanese and not just because the originator is. It has a certain sense of "Kawaii" and the linguistic subtleties would be similar? Latin is COBOL, used everywhere at one point, now relegated to the care of a select group of priests and a few who bother to learn it for historical reasons. The all Caps doesn't hurt either.
