the pt is that certain key statistics are missing from se stats pages, probably purposely so in some cases.
not interested in the moment in doing free dev work for se improvement/ feature enhancement/ datamining/ analysis. am sure it would be some )( fun though.
gilles explained the reopen system to me briefly once, it was hard to follow, might try to look it up again. it seems to have some kind of timer or time-related threshhold on it or something.

@vzn Are you actually implying that there's some master conspiracy to hide how many questions get deleted?
@vzn I'm certain there are - but I don't have the time to write up a query to check into it. I simply wanted to demonstrate that based on stats that anyone (with access to review queues) could see, your assertion that reopen votes don't occur is 100% demonstrably false.
We could get into a discussion of whether or not more questions should be re-opened, but you'd have to start looking at why they got closed in the first place. Do dupes really need to be re-opened? Do questions that were migrated? Do questions that are clearly off-topic? How many were addressed/edited after being closed?

discussed some of these mechanisms with another user in an se chat room. se software seems to be roughly built on ideas about bug tracking software/ db which was an area one of the se founders worked in before building se.
can anyone point to a simple description of how close/ reopen votes expire on the system? and how many votes have expired? a lot just get vaporized leaving no tracks afaict. no such simple description apparently exists.
never said that reopen votes dont occur. clear misreading of my statements, putting words in my mouth
not surprised, this rigid defensiveness of std policy is quite typical across se & incl by se mgt. forums are ostensibly open to questioning but much/ most questioning is met with reiteration of existing policy. they often function more like se culture conditioning areas...
