Here on meta a user claims that they have made some positive contributions to the site since they were question banned: When will ban remove from me?
Assuming that the his description is correct and that he indeed made some valuable contribution, would it be worth trying whether SE is willing to lift the ban.
> If you really, really think the ban is an error, then email the team directly using the "contact us" link provided at the bottom of every page. But note that reactivation of banned accounts is not a high priority.
If contacting the Stack Exchange with the request to lift the ban is the way to do, should the user contact them directly or should they consult MSE mods first?
Your profile does not show that you are banned. Side note: answers have no influence on question ban, and vice versa. — Asaf Karagila ♦4 hours ago
Is the above claim correct? The FAQ post explicitly says:
> If you are banned from asking questions, then writing a few quality answers that get upvoted might enable you to ask questions again. But as the internals of the filter are secret, there is no way to know for sure.
But I certainly admit that it's rather weak. It just says that answers might help.
I wasn't sure whether to make a comment about this under to post - as a response to Asaf Karagila's comment.
Usually I do not have problem with contradicting moderators.
The main reason for posting here rather than in a comment was that I have already posted in this room another question to the mods related to question bans. So it probably makes sense to have both of them in one place.
@AsafKaragila Since the last message was related to your comment, perhaps you won't mind terribly if I ping you about this.
I probably should have simply posted this as a comment, but as i have already posted this here, it's probably better to wait what the moderators say - rather than posting it in two places.
On an unrelated note, there is this post on meta: What's the reputation of MathSE among students and more casual users? I vaguely remember that you've mentioned some story when a colleagues saw your mug or tshirt and responded by "that is the site where people go to get their homework done" or something like that.
I wasn't able to find where you said that. Do I remember this more-or-less correctly? Or did I mix it up with somebody else.
But I don't remember that happening. But then again, my memory is not great for things that are not pop culture or questions about the axiom of choice.
Ok, maybe it's time for both of us to move to other things we should be doing. (After all, there have been complaints in the past about off-topic chitchat in this room.)
