Yes, there are interfaces to call one language from another. Programming languages are not only chosen by what programmers like, but also whether they are suitable for the specific task. Alan's not raising an issue with the use of the C++ tag. The problem was with the C tag. Arduino C++ isn't quite C++, but it's still far away from C.
