The example is not good as it leads the programmers which want to help you into the wrong direction. Please edit your question and write what you really want to do. BTW: Open a command prompt, run cmd /? and read the output help. You get most likely what you want but using start "Example" %ComSpec% /K dir which results in getting started from cmd.exe started by python.exe because of shell=True one more command process executing dir which keeps running because of option /K after dir finished with a console window titled Example. — Mofi 39 secs ago
