Yes, you can ORDER BY CASE column WHEN some_value THEN 1 ELSE 0 END
I created a view at work this week, which is basically just SELECT * FROM Table; (I actually list out the column names though).
All I've done is changed ONE column name, and reordered a few columns... but the biggest problem is... 10 years ago, someone gave the table a really, really terrible name.. and there's 10 years worth of VB code and SPs that rely on this really big really important really poorly named table...
So... I made a view that is what the table should be called, and that allows us to slowly change over the entire code base.
