A year ago today I joined AskUbuntu and asked my first question. @ArturMeinild answered, and in short order my problem was solved. I was so impressed and happy with the experience that I decided to stick around. I quickly realized that there was a wealth of knowledge here, and that by trying to help others I’d be learning more myself. Anyway, many thanks to Artur and all of the AskUbuntu community. I’ve learned quite a bit about Ubuntu so far and look forward to continuing the journey.

@mpboden Ahhh now I remember - you asked about Nala - it seems I'm one of the few who also uses it, after I saw it in a YouTube video (Chris Titus Tech) I think. 😁

@ArturMeinild Yup! That was it. I recall seeing a comment of yours in chat somewhere that you were bummed we never got down to the root of the issue. I'm glad it was fixed, but I was also frustrated as to not knowing the reason. As such, I tried recreating the problem by building a VM starting with Ubuntu 12.04 and upgraded all the way to 22.04. No such luck. So I'll never know what specific configuration change I did over the last decade that caused this. Oh well! ¯_(ツ)_/¯

@mpboden Yeah, sometimes packages just don't upgrade exactly the way they're supposed to - it's rare, but it happens, especially with 3rd party repos enabled. 😎
