@forest and vbox was specifically written to support it iirc
forest
Didn't Vbox actually used to use ring 2 as well?
Or was that another hypervisor?
Journeyman Geek
Possibly. I have not done much 'fun' virtualization since my late 20s alas. Used to mess with any os I could get my paws on
But probably
forest
I'm not a fan of Virtualbox, tbh. I prefer QEMU-KVM
Journeyman Geek
Lol. Wasn't an option back then.
Or wasn't aware of it
Currently if I need to run a full fat vm, kvm is my preference
forest
Do you use QEMU as the frontend on its own or virt-manager?
Journeyman Geek

Virt manager
forest
Ah. Never been a fan of plain virt-manager, but I'm sure it does help workflow for some people (just not my style).

Lol. I tend to try to spend as little time on basic setup as possible and as much doing as possible
Virt manager isn't 'cool' but it gets me up and running
Most of what I run is lxc containers tho
