Hello,
this is first time, i come to chat. is this a rarely frequented place?
My first appearance on AskUbuntu was about 10 years ago. i did participate to the best of my abilities, but suddenly, i failed to communicate properly (or people misunderstood?) and i felt like unwanted individual and left.
This time round, i am not even an Ubuntu user anymore, but was helping a neighbor with a comp problem. After failing to solve it (on their Ubuntu) i did post here. (BTW: myself was the only one to reply to it), but after earning badges and reputation, i decided, to help some more. (i am a zfs reguar since adecade and the same for virtualbox). But after commenting on issues surounding those topics, i got locked.
Now, just before leaving Askubuntu for good (for the second time), i was interested to check with the communiy. where am i misbehaving, and why do people degrade me without even unde

@Bardo we can't see your deleted posts - but what I see looks uh... ok?

@Bardo I can see that you repsonded to this thread. askubuntu.com/questions/1442936/…
I think the main problem is that you seem to mistake this site for a discussion forum, which it is not ..
Did you read the tour page - and more importantly, did you understand how this site differs from a forum?

@Bardo Hi Bardo, I see that your account is scheduled for deletion (by yourself) in less than 24 hours and this saddens me as I see that you have been registered with Ask Ubuntu for 10 years and 7 months. By a wild coincidence this means that you and I joined AU at the same time :).
I had a look at the zfs question where 2 of your answers were deleted, with a note left by a community moderator. Final deletion was carried out by myself after a user flagged both answers as 'Not an Answer'.
The problem that I saw with both answers was that rather than focusing on the specific question there was more of a discursive talk on zfs in general. As well some of your answers contained questions for the OP, questions that rightly belonged in the Comments section rather than the Answer section.
There is always room on AU for a user with ZFS experience, particularly one who has a decade of membership with AU. If you are happy to work on one of the answers you have given I would be happy to undelete the most recent of the answers., We should also enlist some of the great editors on the chat room 'Raiders of the Lost Downboat' to assist?

Thanks for the clarification @andrew.46. I'll happily help editing if it's clear to me which part actually answers the question. 👍
And it's also recently that the question was translated to English - my technical French really isn't up to par for reading and answering ZFS questions.. 😅

I have just edited out all of the French, it was doing my head in and left a note to the OP

@ArturMeinild and @BeastOfCaerbannog I have undeleted both answers and I suspect there can be a single answer created from a combination of the two. I see that the OP has responded to one of the answers
However it is way past my bed time so I am handing the baton over to yourselves and @Zanna and hopefully a resolution can be reached.
Dupe looks close :(. Sorry to leave a tangle like this but I am exhausted...

11:00 AM
Sure .. I'm awaiting response from OP to my comment, and whether the other question helped.. 😎
'Night @andrew.46 😴

@Bardo the main problem with not understanding how the site works is, that you - in an attempt to help out - unintetionally break a number of site "rules" that are made to govern the site, and make sure it stays clean and helpful in the future.
If you have any questions regarding the site format, or questions to the tour page, please don't hesitate to ask them here.

I'm sorry @Bardo @andrew.46, but I don't really see anything in Bardo's answers that clearly states how to mount a zfs dataset (which I believe is what the OP needs).
However, it is stated here - either in answer #1 (using mountpoint property) and answer #2 (using zfs mount poolname).

@ArturMeinild @ArturMeinild I agree. I'm not sure how to edit Bardo's answers into a single post as they are more of commentary posts rather than answers.
@Bardo I have edited the question, so it's more clear now. It would be great if you could edit one of your answers to provide the solution based on the clearer version of the question. I would then be more than happy to further edit your answer!
@BeastOfCaerbannog I tagged Artur twice. I meant to tag @andrew.46

I'm rather adamant now that it's a duplicate. askubuntu.com/questions/1442936/…
And besides, the Zpool was already mounted, just not where the OP was expecting it. And the dupe explains in great detail how to set/change the mountpoint.
And I would encourage Bardo to stay as a user, but I don't think there will be any additional useful answers on that particular question..

Hmmm... thanks to the 3 Amigos for all the work, I am not sure if @Bardo will re-engage? I will have another look this evening, my time when Bardo's account may or may not still be with us...
