I'd like to update this questsion for Python 3, as the main answer it extremely outdated. I've figured out the correct way to do it, but I'm wondering if I should (1) post a new question specifically about Python 3, or (2) make an answer for that question, or (3) edit that answer. I'm guessing either (1) or (2) because someone might still care about how to do it for Python 2. But... which is it?
