Yufenyuy Veyeh DiderI am unable to edit the 2019 Moderator Election Q&A - Questionnaire in order to add the link to my answer below the said question. Q: How does one set up CodiMD as a personal wiki?

bitinerantCodiMD is great for collaborative work, but I would like to use it for personal notes on my laptop (Ubuntu 18.04), configured so that it works without an internet connection and uses as few resources as possible. The manual installation seems like a good starting point, but the instructions assum...

How does one adjust the screen resolution of a ubuntu guest os in virtual box? Mine was surrounded by black.

@RalfRafaelFrix Once Ubuntu boots up, I guess it adjusts automatically (at least in VMWare).

@RalfRafaelFrix install Guest Additions
and it is Host+G to have it automatically resize
and those only work if you did not set a number at 'Maximum guest screen size'. Otherwise that takes precedence

Q: init:wait for root not found

priyalsoniFor Ubuntu 16.04, the init script does not exceute the function mountroot, nor does it drop down to the shell. What could be the reason for that? @Kulfy @Rinzwind I tried sudo apt-get install virtualbox-guest-dkms to guest os. My host os is windows 10.

Q: How to install VirtualBox Guest Additions for Ubuntu 16.04

@RalfRafaelFrix you need guest additions in windows 10 ;)

A: Installing VirtualBox Guest Additions on Windows 10?

Rael Gugelmin CunhaUse of Windows Compatibility settings (or use /force) will not work: installer will run, but with no real effects. Install VirtualBox 4.3.18 or newer. Consider there's question like "How do I upgrade to 18.04?" and it turns out OP is already running 18.04, what should we do in such cases since I think they don't have any answer? Close question as off-topic (no-repro)?

Am1rr3zAI installed some version of Ubuntu on my VMware, but I don't know what version exactly it is. How can I find it out?

@Kulfy better link to a question where the original question (although not relevant for OP) is answered IMO, this way other will find it

Q: Why do some of my tag [suggestions or creations] get rejected?

Yufenyuy Veyeh DiderPlease, I will really like to know why some of my tag suggestions or tag creations keep getting rejected for (my personal opinion) nothing?! Meanwhile, it seems some could be needed and of important use. An example is a tag (davinci) I created when reviewing this question. I could clearly see th...

12:09 PM
@Kulfy see what I chose ;)

@dessert Actually the target you chose has answers mostly GUI based but OP is using a server. Should i add this target?

@Kulfy what? the second answer is mostly non-GUI, and the GUI part (gedit) is easily replaced
but two or three duplicate links are a good thing IMO – go for it!

@dessert Done :)

@Kulfy @dessert I would close it. It isn't a duplicate, the "error" described is only because the OP had already done the update. So it doesn't seem that it will be a useful signpost to the dupe to keep around.

@terdon close as what?

12:22 PM
@dessert non reproducible

@terdon That's what I thought at first instance but was still a little bit confused. So, I asked here.

@Rinzwind now I did installed on the host os.
but it doesn't work either.
There is still black around guest os when I Right CTRL + F.

@dessert @terdon Author deleted the question.

Problem solved!

Yes :P
Am I right here? Answered for the first time for such question on meta.

12:38 PM
@Kulfy That's largely a question of opinion, so you can't be right or wrong :)
I could maybe see a use case for the but I can also understand the valid point you make.

Yesterday I saw a tag and some more which can serve as a synonym of . But I decided to post on meta after the elections. PS: There's no progress on so far.

@Kulfy I always try to back up my meta answers with stuff from the help pages or meta itself, see my comment on your answer.

@dessert Thanks for the advice. If you feel more references can be added, feel free to edit my answer :)

Do we need ? Yufenyuy tried creating that and suggested wiki excerpt which I rejected hoping that tag that aren't used for 24 hours will anyway get destroyed.

@Kulfy I have no idea what that tag would be for. So, no I guess we don't need it.

Yes. I am also not sure about the purpose of this tag. When he asked question on meta, I removed that since I thought it isn't relevant to the question.

Is this how I create a postrouting rule for a machine on a network?

@Rinzwind @Kulfy Problem solved. I installed a higher version of virtual box -- 5.2.28. I had used virtual box 3.2.12. I removed that, and my guest os now fits perfectly in my monitor's screen. No black surrounding it. Thanks for all your help!

JonathanIf someone asks for a software recommendation, and you give a link-only answer "Awesome Software Pro 2000" that fulfills the question, I hold that should not be deleted or closed.
