huh, this is weird. I have a hotspot running dnsmasq (setup with this process: seravo.fi/2014/create-wireless-access-point-hostapd), and when I connect to it, for about a second my local machine respects that machine's /etc/hosts, but then it stops caring about it
I tried putting addn-hosts=/etc/hosts in /etc/dnsmasq.conf, but it didn't seem to make a difference
I tried copying that to something like /etc/dnsmasq.hosts, and putting that into addn-hosts, still no difference
my resetting method was sudo service dnsmasq restart on the AP
and on my machine, ping some.host
any clue what else might be wrong?
huh, funnily enough other hosts work
I tried sudo /etc/init.d/dns-clean restart, between most of the pings

How does this edit "deviate from the original intent of the post"? askubuntu.com/review/suggested-edits/934364

@user3342816 it looks a bit like vandalism, but I agree it’s a good edit. try again. :)

@user3342816 Yeah, that was an improvement. Do it again and ping me, if you like. I can approve it (I'm a mod here).
Oh. Never mind, @user3342816, turns out I can approve it even after it's been rejected, so I just did.
