Q: reopen offtopic post after version release

mbeyssI have a question regarding a question which was closed as off-topic in February 2018, because it revolved around a development version of Ubuntu (18.04). Ubuntu 18.04 has been released since, and after that point I received at least two up-votes for my answer. From this I get, that this problem...

@andrybak hi, just wanted to say that though I approved your edit because I know for sure it's correct, but in the end it's likely to get rejected, because functional edits have to be rejected in general. You would need to leave a comment instead.
08:08
@Seth you had to break the combo? :=D
@Hi-Angel if that user never went into chat he will not see that PM :)
08:26
Oh ☹
I need one more reopen vote from a reviewer to reopen this question: askubuntu.com/questions/771668/… which is not only about how to enable exFAt, it is about using exFAt in GParted too. This popular question has been viewed 15,135 times.
done
@Hi-Angel put it as a comment at the question ;-)
@Rinzwind Thanks for the help.
I created a tmp room, and sent him an invite
I wasn't sure it's correct to refer a user in a comment to do something in a comment, which could be done in the same comment.

Though now that I think of it, I could first make the comment that the edit needs to be done by OP, and later in the same comment mention the @andrybak… But oh, well

Got a question about a maximum; How many edit suggestion can we summit (maximum) without approve / reject? Because I have 4 edit in pending and I can't do another one currently (unless 1 would be accepted / rejected)
I would have believed that the maximum would be 5 suggestions, or is it because 1 of mine had been rejected with a "conflicted with a subsequent edit"?
12:58
I don't know why it's not allowing you to submit a 5th suggestion, but I cleared a few of your pending suggestions @damadam
@Zanna thanks, Is it possible that an older pending suggestion is still in the queue?
are you looking at your suggestions page?
Yes, currently, I just see 1 left in pending (not an old, just 1 I did a few hours ago), not a 5th from 1 or more day ago
I think I just reviewed 5 of your suggestions. Do you still think there were only 4?
I Approved rather than Improved so it needs a second review, but I did that after I saw your chat message
13:16
That last one is the 5th which blocked my other edit, I understand now (I didn't see it in my suggestion list)
yeah, I don't see it there either - odd!
that because the answer was removed, is it a bug or a delay of SE ?
oh hmm
seems like a bug
it was deleted 4 hours ago
I wonder if there's anything on MSE...
Okay, thank you a lot @Zanna :)
there are various posts on MSE about edit suggestions on deleted posts causing problems. It looks like the pending suggestion is still in the queue and will be resolved one way or another when someone else reviews it. Due to the post being deleted, it doesn't show up in your suggestions, though it does block you from submitting more than 4 suggestions until the review completes. Mystery solved I guess
I'm not sure why it doesn't show in the suggestions page, but I do know that even if your edit is approved, you won't get any rep for it because the post is deleted. Sorry about that.
13:31
that's not your fault, OP deleted his post, AU didn't know how to react with my edit; SE must work (or do it currently) about this bug, hope they will consider or fix that ;)
I'm not sure what the optimum behaviour would be here - deleted posts are editable, and the only reason users without edit privilege cannot normally submit edit suggestions on them is that those users don't have the privilege of seeing deleted posts either (that's a 10k privilege). The issue seems to be that deleted posts are not shown in a user's suggestions, resulting in confusion when this (probably quite rare) situation arises. Maybe that behaviour should be changed
feature requests/bug reports go here (a slightly scary place - post with caution)
there are definitely some small bugs around this topic haha
Sure, and I'm pretty sure it's not a isolated case, sadly D:
yeah, it's clearly very reproducible and must happen from time to time

Q: How can I zerofill the /swapfile without wiping out what makes it a swapfile?

0xC0000022LI have a script that I run in order to optimize the disk space prior to backing up a virtual guest (really doesn't matter too much which hypervisor is used). Modern Ubuntu versions (e.g. 18.04) seem to default to using a /swapfile rather than a partition for the purpose. That's fine, too. Howe...

@Rinzwind perfectly fine. The ban on pre-release questions is only to try to eliminate questions we can't answer because of the release's changing nature.
Honestly this is probably a duplicate.
19:01
I did not find one searching on /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades :)
but me too was sure there is a dupe :D
