@NathanOsman Well you could run it, but it will absolutely bring your computer to its knees, unless you have a Titan XP or something... but there's a pre-rendered runthrough in 8k @ 60FPS on youtube: youtu.be/Ya4Z-obAkWA
It's amazing how real the first few scenes look
Apparently even the 1080ti can barely run it at ultra in 1080p at > 30FPS ... it's brutal
I won't even try running it on my lowly GTX650 :)
Just watching it on youtube at 8k is a benchmark all by itself, assuming your internet can even keep up
But the fact that something like that can even be rendered in real time at just 24FPS is still amazing... I mean, sure, it still has a little bit of a "gamey" look, but those first few scenes look a heck of a lot like actual footage
@WinEunuuchs2Unix I only have one 1920x1080... my other one is 1600x900
> "The lamphouse on top of the IMAX projector utilizes two 15,000-watt liquid-cooled, short-arc xenon lamps. [...] Because of the extreme high-pressure xenon gas inside the quartz glass envelope of the lamp, projectionists must wear ballistic safety gear when changing out a lamp. If dropped, the xenon lamp would explode with the destructive force of a hand grenade."
Thing is my 50" TV is the biggest thing I can carry. So if I want to go bigger it has to be a projector onto the wall... Or maybe one of those drop down white screens.
> "NASA uses this same type of lamp at the Kennedy Space Center to illuminate the Space Shuttle at night on the launching pad."
Wow.
> "The average luminance of one of these xenon lamps is approximately 1.6 billion candles per square yard--about equal to that of the Sun as viewed from the Earth's surface!"
> "During normal operation, the clear quartz glass envelope of the lamp has a surface temperature of about 1,300 degrees. To prevent the lamp from overheating, it has coolant "jackets" that allow cool distilled water to be pumped around the electrodes at the flow rate of 8 gallons per minute and a pressure rate of 100 psi. In addition, an exhaust fan removes 1,200 cubic feet of air per minute from the lamphouse. The xenon lamps operate at 37.5 volts DC, and 400 amperes of current."
Even if you said voltage and amps are inversely and directly proportional, 400 at 37.5 is 100 at 110 or 50 at 220. So, yeah, regardless, it would be the suck.
@NathanOsman I just had a very confusing moment. I heard the Windows 10 notification sound, but I only run Win7, so I couldn't understand what had made it. Then I realized that it must have been the newly installed Outlook app on my android :)
@AndroidDev Awww you saw that SIGN!... It was kind of fun :)
Although I have to confess after making 10k I kind of lost all interest in making points and wrote comments rather than answers. Others read my comments and wrote answers based on them to make points. I didn't really care as for example the last 4 nights I've been writing a bubble sort for directories to match the collating sequence of "tree" command and that seems more important although with no points.
@NathanOsman You know, that's what I love about AU. Users are so willing to exchange information and tips in a respectful and helpful manner. Maybe it's that way with all of SE, but I have a feeling that there's a special community of Linux users :)
@AndroidDev It wasn't just the privileges of reaching 10k. Around the same time I became heavily addicted to software development which is consuming all my time. Prior to 10k I was very focused on learning Ubuntu and answering questions. My focus shifted not only because of 10K peek but also software development focus.
Marco (one of our mods) and I built a system a while back that let Chrome display notifications in Ubuntu. He wrote a Chrome extension and I wrote a NPAPI plugin to interact with libnotify.
Ive windows 10 on SSD partition(1TB) and mint on Sata (1TB). But while booting the system boots into windows 10 only. I used supergrub disk and could see Mint linux in the entries, which when clicked it boots into mint.
My question is :-
1.] Can I overwrite windows boot with mint ? If yes then h...
Instead of just saying "Doesn't work" - it would be helpful if you posted all the details that were included in the previous question. The same people are bound to ask for the same troubleshooting output to help solve your problem. — RobotHumans15 secs ago
@jokerdino or @terdon Do you think you could "super-ping" novan and tell him/her to please stop suggesting tag-only edits without even fixing the typos?

I have a question about my Ask Ubuntu post: Programming C8051F020 in Ubuntu 16.10
I see that is very difficoult here to find people able to answer for embedded systems related to Ubuntu questions.
Anyone knows a good forum for it?
It is so a bad idea find a way to increase the support for ...
