@Braiam Don't tell me you've used all your new votes already. It's only 2 minutes after 4.
@Seth I'm running through the flag queue... I forgot

yes it is ok, but you don't have to respond. — ɥʇǝS 17 secs ago
Why.. just why?
DON'T RANT AT ME
I'M NOT RANTING AT YOU
you didn't just have multiple obsolete flags invalidated even though they were raised against obsolete posts!
I've had multiple should be comment NAA flags disputed and then acted upon, which is worse.
me too
in fact, I raised over 200 flags network wide yesterday
and of the half that were rejected, half of those were still actioned!
so let's rant together
actually, let's not
because I'm tired
and I'm bored of ranting for today
(well yesterday)
01:11
I only ever rant for 5 minutes or so. Just to let it out, then a do what aking does.. move on.
So, with that said. Moving on.
(and if you liked, you could probably go through the transcript and find a place where I've ranted for more than 5 minutes... I have done it.. before you go find that place I'll admit, you win)
night
no it's fine, I'm just going to go and sleep instead
Alright, well g'night @kalina

It appears that we have a troll........askubuntu.com/questions/415101/ouija-board-software-for-ubuntu not only OT but OP is posting vulgar comments below
really?
REALLY?
@TrailRider The troll is the very same person who keeps reappearing in chat.
Flag and move on.

@FEichinger yes I see that.... and I did flag and vote to close but more votes are needed...
@Mateo sry that ping was supposed to be for FEichinger......
See, if they're watching, they get off on seeing you react. It doesn't need immediate action, flags are seen by moderators and depending on the flag may also cause automatic removal. Flag and move on, don't give it the attention it so desperately wants.
yes I know, I didn't notice the lurker till after I hit send on the first message....my bad

Besides, if you downvote it to -4 it gets hidden from the front page so no one can see it anyway.
Anyone here use tmux? When I press control + b and then c or ?, nothing happens

vasa1Within the last few hours or so, I noticed a "new" person in the chat room and made a cryptic "Oh dear" comment in chat. The question quality on this site is appalling.
I'm hoping to catch @NathanOsman soon..
Do we have a canonical question for install drivers for a atheros card?
@Seth IMMO they are truly plug and play... if you have problem with em is either that you are doing it wrong or you are doing it wrong
03:59
Alright, in that case I won't worry about those.
I haven't seen Jorge in a while..
Someone pinged me?
That was me.
Do you think you could get the troubleshooter running again? I'm hoping to use it with Oli's wizard.
I think it could be much simpler though, for starters just find out what graphics card, wireless card users have, and maybe figure out if they have any graphics drivers installed..
I'd like to help, but I don't know C++ and I don't have time to learn it right now :-/

Oh that.
I'd love to, believe me.
But I'm already swamped trying to fix a few Stack Exchange apps before v1.x of the API is shut down.
That led to me needing to rewrite Stack.PY, my Python library.

now how do I get 43 rep :-P
you want 43 rep?
hey Kalina. With 43 rep I'd be on exactly 55555 :=D
but it is going to be difficult to do 43 :D
well, I want 43 rep as well
nah it's not, 4 answer upvotes, 1 question upvote, 1 downvote

there the problem.... I do not downvote >:D
4 answer upvotes, 1 question upvotes, and you downvoting 2 posts
09:31
so I am pondering if I should overcome my none-downvoting strategy and just do it or to forget to get 55555 :=)
I wouldn't be able to vote that many times for you in one day without it getting reversed anyway
I do not want upvotes that I did not earn ;-)
I will personally visit anyone and clubber them with my plastic hammer if they do.

when I woke up this morning there were 20 things to review
anybody would think other people on the site don't understand reviewing
Well, you were more busy casting flags.
I'm surprised that meta post hasn't attracted a downvote yet
And I think most people have just resigned and let you do all the reviewing, because that is kinda what you do.
what is this? A complaint that is positively voted?
still plenty of time

A: Symbolic link permission denied , shared folder over cifs

BraiamYou can't create symlinks on CIFS/samba shares. Simply put, you can't unless you are in the remote s...

I don't know what to do with edits like this one.
Those edits add information that could be valid but I'm not sure.
What should I do in those cases?
If I'm sure that the added information is valid, accept it or even there reject it?
Likely, reject - as Seth did - and tell the user to use comments instead.
@Oli has approved it.
Oli
Oli
Why? It's a technical correction (that can be verified as true). If it were a matter of opinion or best practice, I'd be more for commenting but if there's an error, just fix it.
@Oli ok :D
@Oli Because it's putting words in the mouth of the poster and the people reviewing the edit have to assume they know whether it's true.
That's a trip we should avoid if possible.
Oli
Oli
20:19
@FEichinger Sort of but it's also the accepted answer with +4zillion. The poster wasn't wrong about their opinion and suggestion, they just had a detail wrong.
I'm aware of that, and it's why I said likely. I make a couple of exceptions on it, too, but usually I'd prefer a reject.
ok, thanks for your opinions.
Oli
Oli
@FEichinger Regarding the technical side of things, if you're unsure about something in the review queue, there is a Skip button you can use to let somebody else (who might know, or have the wherewithal to go and look it up) review the edit for accuracy. The system doesn't expect (or need) everybody to know everything.
Better you did that than reject a potentially accurate correction.
A potentially accurate correction can be noted in a comment and added at the leisure of the post's author or a higher-rep user coming across it later down the road (if it's still not fixed).
Making a content-based decision, rather than a quality one, in the review queues is, in my opinion, a bad idea.
@Oli bro you have a bro @Olli

ok, I'm going to start making t-shirts, putting some up on zazzle, anyone want a link?
@Lucio, lol! xD
@Mateo I made some tees at one point. Also worked for a really successful sort of counterculture tshirt/bumpersticker company that was being run out of a basement. It was a little fight-clubby
@hbdgaf sweet, well stuff takes a while to go up there so nothing yet - here is the link zazzle.com/matthewjumpdesign
but here is a series i'm doing:
21:34
Hmm.. Is there a strawberry ubuntu?
I might be inclined to try out that flavor ;)
Is there a reason you're not using the store-builder and dropping it on a domain?
What happen to the alternate installer in post 12.04?
@hbdgaf none other than just starting out
@Mateo Cool. It's php... I'm thinking about taking it apart and seeing if a django app is doable. I think that would be really neat.
21:37
hm, that would be cool
Like a small adapter for saelor to pull from rss instead of the database. You wouldn't even have to handle payment details since zazzle handles all of that stuff.
"If someone already built a storefront, don't build it again... just make it work the way you want" sort of thing.
Speaking of which, I wonder if anyone tried sql injection over that RSS feed request...
I figured I would put some random stuff up and see what happens, at least you keep the copyright on designs you do, I remember wanting to submit a few things to think geek once but then read their terms
TShirtHell is the same way. You surrender everything to make them money and get a small percentage.
"We'll drop-ship your creativity and give you a dollar. Make us money please..."
If it works out, look in to screen-printers in your area. You'll get WAY better markups if you buy tees a couple hundred at a time and get them printed in batches of 25+ after "typesetting fees" you have to pay even if you do the type-setting and just approve the proofs.

@hbdgaf Sorry, I am no longer an Ubuntu fan. =)
@Seth lubuntu
I read that MATE will be in Ubuntu 1404, wonder if there will be an official derivate like Ubuntu GNOME.
Sorry. I'm a fan of Ubuntu if only for the fact that launchpad is being cloned by Debian. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery ;)
@JasperLoy Cool!
@Mateo That might work..
they still have a alternate iso
21:49
That and juju is pretty epic, if not "complete" yet.
@Mateo THAT I LIKE.
I really think that GNOME Unity and Cinnamon should stop and everyone should just use MATE, lol.
it installed on my ibm 600X
GNOME 2 was so good, why must they change it???
I liked gnome tutu ( ;) ), but everyone wanted to try to clone MacOS instead of sticking with a tried and true design pattern...
And now, I use the XFCE happy medium.
@hbdgaf all you need to do is make a second panel and it is nearly just like gnome 2
21:54
@Mateo I'm actually more a fan of the openbox design pattern, but I like real compositing.
No bars, no menus, Right-click to expose the root menu. It's so.... clean. Alt-tab to switch. Add a small widget for indicators. Beautiful.
@hbdgaf with the menu on click - reminded me of using Light Step on windows xp (stained glass windows theme)
Yeah... Linux had the root menu expose on right click a LONG time ago.
I think it's a "where are the buttons" thing for new users of a desktop set up that way.

watches Solomon Kane for the first time... and enjoys the heck out of it.
22:10
@hbdgaf, solomon kane?
movie based on a really old fictional character. i might read the old fictional character stuff after the movie.
> Solomon Kane is a fictional character created by the pulp-era writer Robert E. Howard. A late 16th/early 17th century Puritan, Solomon Kane is a somber-looking man who wanders the world with no apparent goal other than to vanquish evil in all its forms. His adventures, published mostly in the pulp magazine Weird Tales, often take him from Europe to the jungles of Africa and back.
That doesn't nearly cover it... if the movie is sticking anything to the character.
ofc a paragraph also can't cover 30 minutes of video or a couple hundred pages of character development...
The movie sounds really interesting. Am gonna legally obtain it. And then watch it......
Okay. It's enjoyable, at least to me.
