which may or may not have been directed at him even

yeah, it wasn't specifically aimed at him ;p
just the whole concept of 'free' speech
(governments need to protect it to keep themselves in line, of course)

7:24 AM
I don't think he acted alone
We have had a number of freedom of speech trolls recently
I haven't dug deep enough, but I think they are a small group.

Q: Preserving owner/group on OS X-provided CIFS shares

juan parrondoRunning Ubuntu 13.10, Firefox is configured to use the system proxy settings, but it seems it fails to pick them up. Q: Don't be shy and vote ;)

BraiamI know is pretty difficult finding good/interesting questions/answers, but the amount of votes per week/month/quarter leave so much to hope for. @NathanOsman I like your attitude :P
@FreedomofSpeechProphet You need to hang around here more often. You know you can be in two rooms at once in one browser tab...

@Seth I'm in 7 -_-

@Braiam You should see how many @jrg hangs out in at once O_O
(Where is that fellow...)
Is sublime text in the repos? I don't think it is.
I'm not sure. I did it a long time back. I probably used sudo apt-get installRanveer 53 secs ago

nope

wow, I'm still on the first page of voting?

7:12 PM
@Mateo People need to vote more.. yes.
What file system format does Apple use again?

HFS+ (or something)
@Mateo yea, is sad...

2 hours later…
LOL, it's available on DR... that's really mean D:

@NathanOsman And you actually want to use it?

Is it any good?

@NathanOsman err... I probably would need to hunt down places to use it :/

@NathanOsman I don't know..
but I think it's a big privacy risk.
I don't want to give that kind of information to Google!
Here's a good mint question we should be allowed to migrate:

Q: Linux Mint 15 Configure Wacom Intuos graphics pad

Mike WilliamsonI purchased a Wacom Intuos graphics pad recently (specifically, Create Pen & Touch Tablet, which I think is the rebranding of the Intuos 4), and I am trying to configure it on my Linux Mint 15 system. I followed the instructions regarding the configuration on this site: https://sourceforge.net/...

9:22 PM
@Seth ask UL folks if they want the question...

We can't migrate it anyway..

Community can't but mod can ;)

I'm not following.

if you ask them if they want it, our mods don't need to ask UL and you only need to flag it with Other ;)

Right. So why not let the mod ask since he has access to the TL? The U&L room is most always dead.
Foss closed it so maybe he'll see my flag and move it too.
btw, is apt-get shutdown now supposed to drop me at run level 1?

9:39 PM
hi there I'm having a problem with sound. Ubuntu keeps setting LINE IN for sound input in spite of having a headset plugged in to the microphone jack socket. This is on a macbook pro. In settings->sound I can switch it to microphone but after some time it reverts back to LINE IN which is embarrassing. Is there a config file for this?

10:05 PM
I'm unaware of any config files..

10:15 PM
@Seth nope
apt-get doesn't has such command...
sudo shutdown now will... shutdown your system...
sudo telinit 1 may change you to run lvl 1

@Braiam That's what I meant.. Oops.
But when I run sudo shutdown now I get dropped to a root prompt, which looks a lot like run level 1

> This is performed by emitting the runlevel(7) event, which includes the new runlevel in the RUNLEVEL
environment variable as well as the previous runlevel (obtained from the environment or from
/var/run/utmp) in the PREVLEVEL variable. An additional INIT_HALT variable may be set, this will con‐
tain the value HALT when bringing the system down for halt and POWEROFF when bringing the system down
for power off.
you need to tell shutdown to halt/poweroff the system to shut it down, otherwise it will only change the runlvl and won't shutdown the system... nonetheless you can still manually power it off
I normally use sudo poweroff instead shutdown since shutdown needs a extra parameter

10:30 PM
@Braiam Yes, I usually use that as well. I was just curious about that. So would I use sudo shutdown now halt or something similar?

@Seth sudo shutdown -h now or sudo shutdown -P now... I don't know why halt and poweroff are different tho...

@Braiam Ah okay. I do know the difference between them though. Halt powers everything off but leaves the actual hardware running (and maybe init), just like Windows 95's "It is now safe to turn off your computer" screen. Poweroff actually powers the entire system down.

makes sense

11:08 PM
@NathanOsman I heard there are a lot of hacks... and there is near field communication on the nexus 5 so...

Correct, N5 does have an NFC chip.

@NathanOsman did you see the site for this "smart" credit card with bluetooth? onlycoin.com
looks kind of interesting...
