@seth you had experience with this one: askubuntu.com/questions/366438/… was installing the 32bit package a easier solution?

@Mateo I remember that it was...

@Mateo Yes it was, however the Google Earth itself refused to open after the installation.
@Braiam done.
@NathanOsman Very.

@Seth ty
there was it's peak hours tho

@Seth ah, ok

lol 50 mins after got close votes, already without them... can someone vote this as bug askubuntu.com/q/364945/169736 ?

12:51 AM
Got it.

Hey, could someone with enough reputation tell me if an answer was deleted from this question: askubuntu.com/questions/70938/…
I'm sure I remember awarding a bounty on it, but the answer I remember isn't there
So either I've got the wrong question, or the answer was deleted

Argghh, Openshot lags and crashes so much... It must run on Christmas spirit or something

Do you have a deadline to meet? It could be the deadline fuse
Although I think that's mostly printers

I could just need egg nog

2:26 AM
@detly it seems an answer was removed. You can see the revisions page which has a link to the answer which got the bounty (but it isn't there)
you'll have to see if a 20k+ user might undelete it

I wonder why it was deleted
well, anyway, it doesn't matter
I don't think it added anything that wasn't available elsewhere

sure
well then wonder why the question was bountied

I bountied it
to get a decent answer
I awarded that answer because it at least had enough information for other people to use
(ie. if they were dual booting)

fair enough

@detly yeah, Bounty Ended with king_julien's answer chosen by detly

2:34 AM
Hey @Braiam, you are here :)

ah well, no big deal

I most of the time have the chat open... most than the main page :P

i guess most people here just have it open

I just had an idea, based on @Braiam 's comment here askubuntu.com/questions/366469/… , what if developers in here add a feature where an OP could mark a comment as the correct answer ? I can say that I have seen some unanswered questions, where the comments could give a solution. Don't ask for links (I don't have one)

the problem is that comments are for critique or request clarification from an author while answers are for answering/solving OP's doubt. That's the way system was done since comments can and will be deleted with a single strike

2:41 AM
@NikTh nah, just ask the commenter to put that into an answer
comments are primitive compared to answers or even chat messages

in a nutshell: "comment" !== "answer"

@Braiam what language is that?

JS

wow, why not just != or =/= ?

1296
Q: Does it matter which equals operator (== vs ===) I use in JavaScript comparisons?

bcaspI'm using JSLint to go through some horrific JavaScript at work and it's returning a huge number of suggestions to replace == (two equals signs) with === (three equals signs) when doing things like comparing idSele_UNVEHtype.value.length == 0 inside of an if statement. Is there a performance ben...

and =/= doesn't exist in JS

2:43 AM
=/= is what I use generally, it's clearer than != for non programmers

mathematicians will say that ~= is clearer, tho

ok, so === is equivalent to python's is and == is equivalent to python's == (translating to a language i understand)
a wavy equals sign in maths means approximately :P

you sure? I was told that in logic that means NOT

Well, the exclamation mark is know as "it is not". I can say that and I'm not a programmer, but I have seen this lot of times. So despite the == the exclamation mark gave me that "Comment is not an answer. :-)

"In written mathematical logic, the tilde represents negation: "~p" means "not p", where "p" is a proposition."

2:47 AM
maths usually uses 1 symbol, not mixes like != or ~=. I understood ~= to be ...
which is approx.

> A tilde in front of a single quantity can mean "approximately", "about" or "of the same order of magnitude as".
so, yeah, I used it badly, should have been comment = ~answer D:

yup, I'm looking at wikipedia
@NikTh I guess if you've been around AU a while, you get used to it

Yes @minerz029 :)

in the whole SE I have been around 2 years (first in SO) here just couple months :D

Someone knows any progress about this ? blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/…

2:53 AM
@Braiam in .xcompose, if you type ~=, it becomes which is approx.
@NikTh I think there was a meta somewhere about that
but English obviously preferred

A: Localization: The state of the nation?

Robert CartainoWithout throwing out a lot of arbitrary, wildly-speculative dates, the best I can say is that localization is slowly creeping up in priority. But there are no dates to report or even an estimate. There are proposals targeted for other languages, but they are created with the understanding that th...

there was one on Meta AU as well, i think

> ETA: still 6–8 arbitrary units of time.
O_O
units of time = years???

@minerz029 this is not about the preferred language.. you know that.
@Braiam what ? (lol)

I find this very narrow-minded. I thought the mission of the StackExchange Network was to "make the internet a better place", rather then "make as much profit as possible". — fretje Mar 8 '11 at 16:50

2:56 AM
thanks for digging that up from the bottom of the page

yeah, I normally read all the answers before voting :P

that's a problem when the answers have lots of screenshots or stuff
the page keeps constantly scrolling when loading, making that near impossible

that was the reason why I "removed" a image of a question... the image was about 3 scroll down :(

i might just disable images in chrome actually...
oops, that breaks almost everything

Anyone know why all the questions/answers on this search all point to the same question/answer? I mean.. I get that they are similar... but I would like to see more information/original posts too.... :S I have a problem with my apt-get where a package is malformed or something. E: Problem with MergeList .... :S

@InbarRose I don't understand. The answer here doesn't help?

@InbarRose they all point to the same because they are all the same question with the same answers that are applicable.

A: what is . in the command mv wordpress /*

Dhruv DharamshiI believe it moves it to the home folder. Had you typed mv *wordpress.exe /home it would have moved all files that end with the letters wordpress.exe to /home

downvote that answer into the abyss please.

Q: Questions candidates that should be closed for historical reasons?

BraiamI got this comment regarding this question expressing that "if that was a-ok, why mine is not". Hi , I got a message to join chat. Is there anyone still here who knows why?

heya there o/

If its about double comments I do apologise it was not intentional I had internet issues and some comments did not seem to appear for me

yeah, whenever you use the LQP review queue 2 comments gets submitted, nothing big but so you just know
so much I could guess ;)

Any idea what I can do to stop this?

meta-Q with the bug tag, and images or get better internet :P

10:29 PM
I can start reloading questions to check and normally I don't have problems but today I have been getting interference from another wifi signal. Maybe someone has started using the same channel

10:46 PM
that sucks...

I've asked a question on meta but will look to see if I can find a cleaner channel so I get less interferrence.

Q: Double posting of comments (Not intended)

Warren HillI was picked up yesterday because I appear to have double commented on some questions This was not intentional and appears to be a result of my wifi disappearing momentarily due to local interference from other wifi hotspots. Is this a bug, and what can I do to stop this happening again?
