@terdon Chris over in biology.sx writes pretty good answers.

@terdon Oh, thanks for letting me know.
And no, I am not native english speaking. I miss typos sometimes.
terdon
@Chris Pfft, I assure you, you write better than many an article I've read or have had to review.
That's why editing is allowed after all.
Chris
I have no problem with that. I do the same for other people when I spot errors and typos.
It's also a chance to improve. When I don't write, I don't get better.

Is this chat usually this silent or I just came here at the wrong moment?
Chris
I would say, it depends.
Sometimes it is quite active and then again it is quiet for days.
poka.nandor
this quite interesting
guess i had the image of a "traditional" chat in my mind
I'm still quite new here and tryong to learn the habits of this site
So where are you guys from?
Chris
6:37 PM
i am from germany, but have lived for quite a while in iceland
poka.nandor
wow nice
I'm from Hungary
Chris
don'T forget that we have a relatively small number of regulars - if they have no time, then there is no chat
nice as well...have never been there yet
poka.nandor
I've noticed that most reviews and answers come from a handful of people like 15-20 maybe
Chris
most people get not involved deeper into the site...so there are not many.
this can be problematic, as this influences the way the community reacts to questions

hi, may I ask why this happens? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUJLgKkmllA
It might be entirely physics, but I would like to ask it here first.
poka.nandor
7:34 PM
so I'm back sorry I had to do some meergency house work
plus I spilled my cupcake with whipped cream on my laptop
but it works :D
emergency *
jesus that spelling :D
So we were at not many people participating
But what is the desirable size of "core" communitiy
?
I think that around 100 people would display enough diversity yet it is relatively easy to achieve some sort of consensus
but maybe I'm wrong

Chris
9:09 PM
emergency house work - you needed to wash some dishes? :-)
poka.nandor
almost :D
Chris
I don't know what the disirable community size is - I think biology will continue to grow. The last year was pretty ok.
