@W5VO I expected that coming from you, who has has proven to lack the capacity to understand and the lack wisdom to discern experience or the capacity to create a positive environment.

Yeah, I know what you've done. Don't talk to me about "understanding" or "positivity"

that was the past when there were bigger assholes that needed to be treated the same.

Tony... it's just you... when will you realize that?

again you misunderstand. Everyone is an asshole sometimes for a purpose, n
even you

And I guess your purpose is to randomly spread slightly incorrect information, and get upset when you get called out.
Again, like always - the whole world is incompetent. Save us Tony!

I dont try to save anyone except from the ignorance of admins who have more power than they know how to use
i think you know how toxic this EE forum is. Russell is the best at preventing this. The attitudes are a reflection of the admins

Probably, and you're one of the best at starting things

starting what? Comments about verbotten?
you are a fool

of course
call me whatever you need to in order to make yourself feel better for not keeping your knowledge current.
I'm waiting for the "Kids these days are fools"

I am only critical of users who fail to understand the essential requirement for specs in any design and question. Your focus is saying your wrong , haha

Yeah, nothing like scaring beginner hobbyists with random specifications that are "essential"... Until someone reasonable solves the whole problem. Not saying that under-specified questions aren't a problem, but often your approach is ridiculous.
Not that I'm giving you a fair chance on what's happened, I'm just assuming you haven't changed

i’m sure you have changed too, so I”ll give you the benefit if the doubt. We must try to be more understanding and tolerant and teach Them how to think, not just ask silly questions..... I doubt that things have changed that 2/3’s of 1st year students fail to meet the requirements or quit early. Better to get them conditioned to professional way of thinking early than spoon-feed the, well beyond their infant years. Make sense? Better to learn fast than too late that it is not what they want.
Education is more about fundamentals and learning how to learn and think ,rather than the answer. Although shortcuts to analysis are guided by experience. libraries are now replaced by google searches. This is the core tool to learn before asking a trivial question, which is encouraged by admins lack of for,st for inpit before send.
Pardon my neuropathic fingers on my IPad

One thing I've noticed is that the longer that I'm out of school, the less empathy I have for students. Distinguishing between "what I learned in school" versus "what I've known for a long time" gets harder and harder. There is definitely not enough time to learn "everything" you need to be a fully-productive engineer in 4 years.
Honestly, I don't think that this site has enough leverage to "force" a mindset like that on users, especially since school-work tends to be under-specified in very special ways. I'm thrilled with the increase in hobbyist activity, but at the same time I don't think you'll be able to instill the fear of corner cases in someone working on electronics for fun without a professional background. I think it's important to scale your rigor depending on your audience.
There's also a hesitation to close "obvious" questions just for being "common knowledge"- if someone couldn't find the answer easily, then maybe the new answer will be something that is easily searched for... it's a hard trade-off between building "neophyte" users and keeping the content interesting for the seasoned engineer.

With a son-in-law who is fully tenured Prof in power systems, he commented on massive swing away from h/w to s/w enrollment. Probably the lower opprtunities from buy vs make from alibaba’s sources. Although he is much smarter than I ever was, the experience differences are vast and although he encourages Rev. Eng. Consumer products, students are phobic to try. You must lead by example. The Asian teaching methods are superior this way.
Learn why things are the way is a mindset of experience with 1st principles applied With DFC, DFT , DFM and reliability long before you try to be creative. Learning what it takes. One only has to read Maxwell’s 1st treatise On archive.org to appreciate he wrote about every scientist’s lab results and ignored every German mathematician’s theory before he unified all of them. There is a critical lesson here Is to learn to reverse engineer between studies. T
That’s how I taught myself to be able to be hired as an R&D Aerospace electronics intrumentation designer after basic training with a BSc then doing bleeding edge stuff with a great mentor. Shock and vibe, Thermatrons and a 1e-10 stability spec for my 1st PLL.
@W5VO i’d say it was the critics with admin hats and more downvotes and charact. assasination and less experience than appreciation that were the igniters. When lack of support followed, I tried a flame thrower to battle the fire.
much like how Halliburton used explosives to stop an oil fire.

The phobia to Reverse engineer and teach how to find simple answers and block them with specs on questions is the best Way to improve the site. This needs to be a checklist before Send is an option to new questions. Specs: purpose: measurable outcome, tolerances, must haves followed by nice-to-have and resources for input. Links to all relevant components with photos included . Then why? self-learning, R&D, hobby, ,mass production, Undergrad, save time, lazy, or best practise in industry.etc.
The quality of the outcome by linking examples how to search, similar questions with key words, and minimum specs for the question. The best answers follow the best questions. Wiki links should be encouraged or programmed automatically even if some are flawed.
this can condense the redundant explanations to duplicates and begin attract a revenue stream that has failed to gain traction.
Or more professional Solutions-based content
Then these responses will no longer be necessary..... 3
Also, please edit the question title to explain what the problem is. We know it's a problem because all questions are. It looks like homework so if it is then add the homework tag and show your attempt at a solution. Otherwise your question is likely to be closed. –
I’m voting to close this question because this is a homework assignment with no attempted solution
