@Nadeshka I believe "the above answer" means "what I have written so far of this very answer" and is acknowledging that the answer may be seen as a frame challenge, so then writing the second half that isn't a frame challenge. — Kate Gregory 1 min ago

It's still possible to give leading bait statements. Like, "I hope that you really enjoyed yourself at the festival!" Personally, I find it much more difficult to give non-leading bait statements than non-leading questions. A bait statement is, after all, fundamentally attempting to lead them somewhere. "How was the festival?" does not lead or bait. — Ed Grimm 1 min ago

This sounds like a passive aggressive approach that will work with some people but not others. Personally, I tend to think that people who react like you are describing here are self-defeating, because they're attempting to communicate something in a very unclear manner. — Ed Grimm 1 min ago

When people over-explain like this for me, it's usually do to a failure on my part to respond verbally. They tell me they're going to head out and my car is blocking theirs, and I head for my coat, rather than actually saying something, because that's how my mind works. By explaining my reaction verbally first, I can separate myself from the people who just react by wandering off in response to annoying people who fail to make clear requests - which is a behavior I've actually seen. — Ed Grimm 1 min ago

Last sentence of Is the person objectively wrong, I'm pretty sure you mean "best not to frame it as if someone can be incorrect." I can't make a two letter change, so I can't fix that. I understand it's clear to someone who is fluent in English, but I spend enough time on ell.stackexchange.com to realize it could be confusing to people who aren't fluent. — Ed Grimm 1 min ago

@Glorfindel This could be a useful place.

@bmike depends on what you're looking for :)

@Glorfindel Something I can close the lid on of course.
And a reminder that the tools can be used to really clean / clarify what we want to keep in the main rooms.
