Q: Can an election happen if moderators are not stepping down? A referendum?

WillkAs far as I can tell, moderator elections happen only when there is a need for (more) moderators: either a new Stack Exchange site comes into being, a moderator resigns or the team needs additional hands. Thus moderators are elected for life. Is there a mechanism to hold an election if moderator...

The system is actually quite like the situation with the British PM: moderators can call a sort of vote of no confidence to have another moderator removed, but ordinary users have no similar power – other than making a huge fuss on meta, providing a convincing argument, and wielding the power of public opinion. — wizzwizz4 17 hours ago

A: Can an election happen if moderators are not stepping down? A referendum?

GlorfindelWhenever a site graduates from beta, elections are (eventually) held, and the current ♦ moderators have to stand in the election in order to be reelected. While the latter contains links for asking good questions and the help center, neither shows the rules for questions. It would be more helpful if it showed all the rules...

Q: Feature: Making the MO-guidelines visible while editing questions?

Thomas KojarI noticed that some of the MO questions that get closed are clear-cut going against the MO-guidelines eg. "here is the link to my new result" or "here is the jpg file of my homework question". In https://mathoverflow.net/questions/ask, on the right, there is a pane with a link to https://mathover...

@DavidRoberts Is there anything else I can do to promote this feature-request? I just saw yet another question "here is my homework". People can always revert back to not having any short-list of rules, if it is not helping filter. — Thomas Kojar Nov 17 at 4:49
@ThomasKojar I suggest writing as comprehensive answer as you reasonably can, and see what people think of it via votes. If there seems to be some support then that would be helpful. — David Roberts ♦ Nov 20 at 23:00
