Q: Wikipedia community

Dominic108Has a Ask Wikipedia community ever been considered to discuss Wikipedia's rules and policy outside of Wikipedia? If yes where can we find the discussions? It already exists on Wikipedia, of course. It's not that it's not well done in Wikipedia. It's just that any approach to encourage other peopl...

A: Wikipedia community

Journeyman GeekI'd say that's very much something that is 'best' mooted on wikipedia, for their community to find that 'our' way of doing things works better then their way - through talk pages and other tools (Our current VP of community used to work there and would have better insight on the workflow there.) ...

A: Wikipedia community

LaurelThere's no Stack Exchange site to "discuss Wikipedia's rules and policy". I'd expect a site proposed for this on Area 51 to be closed. This type of discussion is something that needs to happen on Wikipedia itself, where all the interested parties are. Similarly, discussion of Stack Exchange rules...

Q: On a MathOverflow post, the members' reputation for a question & answer shows briefly but then disappears

John OmielanWhen I was just viewing the MathOverflow Improving Cauchy estimates?, this is what I see for the question & answer members' "flair" sections: Doing a refresh causes the reputations to briefly appear, but then disappear. The page source for Guido's "flair" section is: <div class="-flair"> ...

Could be due to a custom script deployed on the site breaking. The migration agreement for the site allows site mods to deploy custom JavaScript on the site, so long as they continue to maintain it to keep up with SE changes. — Sonic the Anonymous Hedgehog 22 mins ago
This relates to MO only - they requested a test where we added some JS to their site to hide reputation. I'm sure the mods there will explain shortly. — Catija ♦ 16 mins ago
It seems it is indeed due to a custom script. Per a comment from Catija on the migration stub of the other post, the site mods just requested to add additional JavaScript to intentionally hide these statistics as part of an experiment. — gparyani 13 mins ago
I might also add that a couple years ago, I proposed this exact same experiment for Stack Overflow. I think the MO mods saw that post and decided it'd be a good idea to do, and as they could deploy custom JS here, they went ahead and did it. — gparyani 10 mins ago

Q: Experiment request: Temporarily stop showing characteristics about a user in the question preview to certain users

gparyaniJudging from my overall experience on Stack Overflow and what I've seen happening with others, it might be that users' votes are confounded based on the reputation of the post author, or based on whether or not they are a new user. However, this is unproven. To help (dis)prove this, I have a pro...

Q: Reputation and badges are no longer visible next to the users' names

Alex M.Right now it seems that a bug is affecting MO: reputation and badges are no longer displayed next to the users' names. This happens both on the front page: as well as on pages of individual questions: Furthermore, the reputation pop-up is also not displayed when I hover the mouse cursor above a...
