@MartinSleziak Can we make our phone to sound when we get pinged?

7:43 AM
@Knight I don't really understand the question.
I have never used SE on any mobile device, so I won't be of much help here.

Okay

You could ask in the main chat room or in math meta chat.
Or, if you are able to make the question clear, you could ask on Mathematics Meta. (Or maybe even Meta Stack Exchange.)

I meant that when I'm on computer and get pinged, my computer makes a "bhatt" sound

Q: (How) Can we make our mobile phone to make a sound when we get pinged in chat?

KnightSometimes it is more customary to work in chat rooms, and as there are less chances for synchronous conversation we usually ping users. When we are on computer and get pinged, we get a sound like "bhatt", it helps us a lot (for some people it is annoying) for example: if we are away from computer...

@Knight Possibly the tag would also be suitable for that question.
I guess and do not fit - those apps are for viewing the main site, not chat.

okay

There is a rather old post on Meta Stack Exchange, but it has no responses: Is there a sound ping on new Mobile chat?

Q: Is there a sound ping on new Mobile chat?

user212646I have to say that the new mobile chat is pretty freaking good. I wouldn't change anything as far as usability goes. However, it doesn't seem to have an audible ping cue. When someone replies to me, I don't hear any noise. Perhaps this is by design, or maybe there are limitations on mobile brows...

It was asked 4 years ago
I think I should not expect too much from mobile site

@Knight can you perhaps ping me as a test? (I also use my phone sometimes on chat, but always kept it silent with no sounds).

10:25 AM
I am not really sure whether you're still waiting for the "test ping" @Zacky - but here's one.

10:35 AM
@MartinSleziak Thanks, I didn't receive any sound anyway.

So that confirms what Knight said in the post on emta.

@Ashley I don't really think it was necessary to delete the question here: Showing that $a$, $b$, $c$, $d$ are in geometric progression iff $(a^2+b^2+c^2)(b^2+c^2+d^2)=(ab+bc+cd)^2$
Unlike the linked questions, yours is "if and only if".
Of course, the decision is up to you.
But I think that even if the question gets closed as a duplicate, it might be useful for other users. (If nothing else, as a place which directs them to other questions about the problem if they manage to find your question.)
I sent you an invite to this chatroom, so I'd hope you get some notification on this.
Sorry for bothering you with this here - but as you deleted the question, I wasn't able to leave a comment there.
You have also asked about the deleted answer. That answer says just this:
> Hint: $$(a^2+b^2+c^2)(b^2+c^2+d^2)-(ab+bc+cd)^2=(b^2-ca)^2+(c^2-bd)^2+(ad-bc)^2$$
@Martin Sleziak, When I delete the question it shows there is one answer and when I undelete it, is shows 0. WHY ?????? — Ashley 4 mins ago
I am not really sure what message you get when deleting the answer.
There is one answer. But the answer deleted it.
I copied the content of the deleted answer above.

No, nothing. Just the number on top changes.

I am not really sure what you mean by "the number on top". As I said, the answer which was posted to your question is now deleted. (The answerer decided to delete it.)

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lagrange%27s_identity this is helpful and something that I can understand
The total number of answers. That change(d) to 1 or 0. But I got my answer, currently seeing simpler cases of that (since I'm in highschool).
Thanks!

You're welcome.

And I saw that I am no aware of a lot terms, so I chose to delete it

I contacted you through chat mainly because I think that the question is worth keeping on the site. Of course, the decision is up to you.

@Zacky As an experiment, would you mind pinging me, too.
I tried to change to "Quicker notifications" in my chat settings - and I wonder whether the ping will go to my global inbox even if I am pinged while present in the room.
The description on the preferences page is: Quicker Notifications "Normally, chat mentions that you haven't replied to are sent to your inbox 15 minutes after you are pinged. You have the option of having inbox notifications more frequently."

2:28 PM
Hm... it seems you're gone. Of course, it does not matter that much.

2:38 PM
@MartinSleziak sure.

The red counter with big number has increased. So I guess that pings I get while I am in the room still do come into the global inbox.
Thanks for the experiment!

Can we change the color of our notifications? Red is what I get, I think mods get notifications in blue color.
