Basic searching and reading sounds fair for getting badges, but in theory you could get badges for things you truly have never interacted with. Like just pointing out C# errors and eventually getting the Unity badge despite never having used or even looked at Unity.

@Vaillancourt I would think it's simply outdated, but leaving a symptom on when you only need one doesn't negatively impact the chart. You could add "Has been abducted by aliens" as a symptom to watch out for and it would stay correct.

Well, you'd also need to get them back. Or you count the time on the alien ship as isolation, assuming they only abducted one or kept them isolated from each other.
