@DMGregory how would your wordle thing change on hard mode?

949.8 incidence, it's already Friday and on the weekend usually not much is reported. Maybe we fail the 1000 mark after all.

@Almo It would need to select the next guess from the set of remaining viable words, rather than from the full set, if I understand the hard mode rule correctly. I should test that and see what it does to the guess success.

Ah, on rereading, that might be a stricter rule than I'd need to follow. Any green letters need to lock in, and any yellow letters must appear somewhere in the next guess - but it doesn't seem to require that the next guess be consistent with the info given so far (eg. I could try a yellow letter in the same place a second time - as long as it's present, it doesn't matter if that placement's been ruled out)
