Q: How do i get the image in d311 to a window?

Jack HollywoodSo, here is my problem: i got an image displaying on a plane: http://ideolalia.com/images/texture-quad.png Now i want to fucking create a goddamn window using the fucking win32 API, to just display that shitty quad. HSJ S S S S S SS S A S A KIAS MY ASH BIATHC WHASAAAAAAAAAAAAAP BITCHES...

What is wrong with this guy?

Thank you for drawing attention. I don't think I've ever seen a post get flagged into auto-deletion so fast. :)

10:20 AM
@DMGregory yeah ahahah :D

10:34 AM
@DMGregory uuuuuhm i am trying to make a little clone of "last one standing" :D I'm stuck with the movement though.. how did you make it? did you use Rigidbodies and Physics in general?

Yep, it's using physics movement. The little wiggle-walk the dominoes do is just their renderer moving though, and doesn't affect their physics representation.

ooooh okay
man it is so fluid

Thanks. :D The version I built for event play is even a bit better than what's online, but it's not configured as well for home play.

Nice :D

Once Starlink ships, I want to remake it from scratch and add a few more modes, so it's a more full-fledged game instead of just a jam prototype.

10:39 AM
yes that would be cool

Things that help the fluidity: lower physics step, and interpolation on the player rigidbodies.

I'm really not that good with Rigidbodies and stuff
the reason is probably because i haven't experimented with them enough
i can say one thing though

They're really not too bad once you get used to speaking their language. I usually make myself little helper functions like AccelerateTowards(direction, maxSpeed, maxAcceleration) so I don't have to do the physics math manually everywhere, and most of my code can just focus on saying "that way!"

it's really fun to play on a giant 4k tv :D

Ooooh, I haven't tried it in 4K yet.

10:41 AM
it works
and it's AWESOME :D

I did have a lot of fun with that one, since the scene is so small and simple, I could do a lot with high-res woodgrain and correct table reflections and depth of field, without completely melting my little Surface.

ahahahaha

There's even a little fake bounce light off the table. :)

I can see that :)
i still have a laptop from 2008/9 ish
super old stuff
i was thinking of making a clone using opengl and c++
it's a ton of work though

11:13 AM
I'd say if you're going to do that much work, you might as well have fun making your own game rather than a clone. ;)

Yeah ahahahah

A: How can I get GetMouseButtonDown two positions on two clicks?

DMGregoryYou can gather as many positions as you want into a collection: List<Vector2> _positions = new List<Vector2>(); void Update() { if(Input.GetMouseButtonDown(0)) { _positions.Add(Input.mousePosition); if(_positions.Count == 2) { // Draw your line, and clear the _p...

I was writing an answer too :D I'm too slow :P

Q: Why this question doesn't get answers?

Ender Look18 days ago I asked my first quesiton (about how to get records to make archivements) in this site but I notice that no one have answered it, and I don't know what to do. I know that my question isn't too bad (or I think) because it doesn't have any downvote nor flag. But it also doesn't have any...

Unity released their C# runtime source code: github.com/Unity-Technologies/UnityCsReference

5:21 PM
 //Footprint stuff refactor later :)
        private FootPrints footprints;// reference to the global footprints controller
        public float footPrintSpacing = 2.0f;//duh
        private Vector3 lastPos;//duh
        //end of footprint stuff\
my new favourite block of code :P

5:32 PM
i guess creating low poly assets for a terrain is pretty useless for world that should be created procedurally... think I'm gonna go for procedural generation

Do you guys use Steam in Big Picture?

user92578

user92578
I'm adding in support for big picture text input, but I don't understand why they would display the text I'm entering in two different places

user92578
The whole input thingy feels very buggy too but that might just be my non-Steam Controller -controller

@Tyyppi_77 sometimes, yeah

I'm trying to figure out if I should make the map background black, or just let stars through. Also if I have anywhere else I can add in things of interest.

7:55 PM
I'm going to try Unreal out, do you guys have any recommendations in terms of how to start?
I have a good grasp on C++

I have a Udemy class that is great, but other then that...

@PearsonArtPhoto stars behind it are fine & good
give the text a stroke if that's an option

8:23 PM
Stroke?
Will give is a short I suppose.

I guess he means make it have a black border
That way it's visible everywhere

text stroke is an outline around the letters
like the black border around white text you see on memes

8:38 PM
Ahh, that should be easy enough.
