Q: What is the book at the end of The Equalizer (2014)?

AnnanFayAt the end of The Equalizer Alina shows McCall a book and the following is said: Um. I'm reading now. Oh, no‽ Yeah! Very good. I know. I got it from a used book store. The guy there recommended it to me. It's good. There are a few shots of the book but from awkward angles. The film gives the bo...

Q: I Can't Remember This One TV Show's Name

Christina HicksOkay It Is A TV Show where a boy moves to a town that populated by zombies, but apparently his dad is oblivious to the zombies.

8:12 AM
@ankii I don’t know if you realize how rude you sounded. Please don’t do that, it’s a humble request.

look I read the chats..
you had a tiny feud with a mod from physics.se
you talked about it in maths.se
they told you to stop vilifying a person behind their backs
now you're talking about those maths people here
it simply doesnt help.
2
later you're gonna go telling people about me

@ankii Are you still not realising what you’re talking about ?

no.. enlighten me.

@ankii You’re telling me that I’m such a man who speaks about people on their back and gets scolded and then do it again, means I’m a man who have no self-respect at all. That’s how you sounded
And I never talk about people on their back

@KnightadmiresChappo hasn't it happened twice already ?

8:21 AM
@ankii No

maybe I misread then..
I gotta go to eat now.

@ankii Moderators have power to see conversations by hiding. They can see you but you cannot see them, they use incognito window for observing us. And I know he was there watching me, beacuse his colleague was there
And please From next time try not to insult someone publicly.

Q: After being rescued from captivity by Walt, why doesn't Jesse immediately surrender to the police?

AlexIn the final episodes of "Breaking Bad," Jesse had been collaborating with Hank and Gomez to "nail" Walt. Though Hank and Gomez are now (at the time of the final showdown between Walt and the Aryan Nation) dead and thus unable to corroborate any such claims Jesse might make in this regard, Hank's...

*sigh*
Bringing up the Math.SE drama here is kinda pointless, though.
And moderators don't generally stalk conversations in incognito windows.

@Mithical exactly! I have had my own fights with people over different chats.. I don't invite others into it by saying "Fight between mods and a user is going on on Maths.SE"

8:26 AM
@Mithical One of them do

@KnightadmiresChappo that's still in the bounds of "generally"

@ankii See you cannot rebuke me anymore. You were at your disposal to pay attention to my comment in this chat

@KnightadmiresChappo Whatever. It doesn't matter. If you're saying something in a public chat, it better be appropriate to say it in a public chat.

@ankii Do you think I make claims just out of blue?

@KnightadmiresChappo no

8:28 AM
Dragging drama between sites and chatrooms is not helpful, so please just... don't do that.
2

I’m not doing that
@ankii Better

@KnightadmiresChappo Perhaps not intentionally, but that's the result.

even after mar said "Why do I even wanna know shrug " you called people "self proclaimed nabobs" !
better end it with "nevermind"

If you have a problem with a specific mod on a different site, this isn't the place to bring it up.

@Mithical Yes I agree, but Ankii started it by insulting me

8:29 AM
I think you're misinterpreting what @ankii wrote.
And this conversation isn't going anywhere productive, so I'd suggest that everyone drop it at this point.

@ankii You had a chance to ignore it, I didn’t trespass. You’re just making criminal charges on me, please be rational

okay

@M.A.R. not that the Department of Defence was any better
@KnightadmiresChappo actually, anyone can do that. last i remember you don't show up in a chat room if you just read the transcript

That is correct.

@Memor-X I don’t want to take names, but that mod have another mod friend and you would find him in every chatroom where I go. They know, they track.
He inform him, then they watch through incognito route. Then they send some mod from other sites to say “please stop this”. It’s all such a mess...

8:41 AM
@AnkitSharma i recall you a couple of times saying Ruby Rose isn't a good actor. i don't see any problems with her acting in John Wick or Batwoman so maybe i'm missing something but what makes her not a good actor?

9:07 AM
Okay people, you can have a moderator from this site saying "please stop this", or at least take it somewhere where it matters, be that Math.SE, Physics.SE, or wherever. But it's clear it has nothing to do with this site or room and only causes unnecessary hurt and anger.

9:18 AM
Yes, I agree Napoleon. But that @ankii insulted me for no good reason, he could avoid it.

Really, that includes continued musing on ankii's "insult". It might have been just a misunderstanding. But what it certainly was not, is about anyone's "self-respect".

Q: Are the characters and actions of The Duellists reflecting the broader historical context?

Napoleon WilsonRiddley Scott's feature film debut The Duellists follows the repeated encounters and duels of two French officers throughout the Napoleonic Wars. And while I couldn't help but see Napoleon Bonaparte himself in Feraud's stature and attire at the end of the film, I read on Wikipedia that this pose ...

@NapoleonWilson I tried to watch Unstoppable but I had to stop watching this cause others wanted to watch news on Covid-19. Anyway watched this film after a few days.

@Memor-X Most of them are community dogs. A group lives in its hostel lawn, eats from the people visiting the canteen, or the mess
But I had adopted a 3 months old pup which used to sleep in my room
later an adult female adopted the pup & both of them used to sleep in my room

> LOVE FOR MATHEMATICS MADE ME ROMANTIC
AHAHAHAHHAHA
Anyway how can you earn 1.8k rep and not know "Post your own thoughts about this fact." isn't a valid question.
Well, technically earn 1.7k
Also apparently I missed some drama in this chat. I have a thing for missing drama
@Knight you don't need to take @ankii's comment personally. He didn't mean to insult you and it was a big misunderstanding

also no need to drag it up yet again

TIL "nabob"
> a Muslim official or governor under the Mogul empire.
O.o
Trying to conjure up possible situations where such a word might be useful
Nah. Throws it in mind trashcan
@Mithical Sure, it just seems it started because of someone pinging me, so I had to say all I had to say about it

7:20 PM
No, I don't think you really had to. ;-)

Civic duty
Does Fahrenheit 451 have a good movie?
Or is it just the one?
Oof. 1966.
I'm guessing it never got the movie it deserves though. Hollywood itself perpetuates some of the mindless crap the book is criticizing
It's pretty amazing how many things it predicts, especially in chapter one, that we've already been headed towards. It's of course not that extreme but mindlessness is winning.

@M.A.R. make sure you catch up with JKR's twitter

I think there's just the one. But I heard it's supposed to be good.

@M.A.R. most likely nawab

Neither is it from Hollywood.

7:36 PM
@ankii Rowling?
o.o

yup

What does she have to do with all this

Nope, absolutely no need to.
@M.A.R. she's being a bigot again
same old, same old

Wasn't she "woke"?

@M.A.R. yeah, nothing to do with this

7:37 PM
Like depicting LGBT characters in her books or whatever

*rolls eyes*

I decided I never want to enter Harry Potter's world Mith.
Because, well, I wasn't convinced it has something of value other books don't

@M.A.R. That's probably the point. Saying "ya know, Gandalf is gay because Twitter" might make you "woke", but it doesn't necessarily make you genuinely concerned about the issue.

(I only said it since it was on reddit's top trends yesterday )

@NapoleonWilson That would make a lot of sense, and IMHO for too many celebrities
The most articulate argument I found about why I should read Harry Potter was "but it has nice things! Magic and shit! You want to want it!"

7:39 PM
Or maybe she's trying to rudder back on some inadvertent stereotypes that naturally make it into every book and thereby...just making everything worse.

I call that pandering in my book, lady

Like goblin bankers being jews or Dobby being an anti-slave statement or whatever.

So I read GoT books, pretty enjoyable. And LOTR was always there. Harry Potter? No thanks.
Same for Star Wars, even though I might watch some of the older Star Trek shows

nice chain you two made there

@NapoleonWilson Ugh

7:41 PM
@M.A.R. The problem is mistaking HP for GoT or LotR. A trap Ms. Rowling fell into, too.

Well, good writing can save all of that, really.
But that I mean a good plot, not some witty dialogue.
@NapoleonWilson That's . . . an interesting view. Can you elaborate?

@ankii I wrote up a whole rant yesterday about how what she said was problematic, don't need to reiterate it here

@M.A.R. It started out as kids' books in a cool fantasy world, giving kids an escape to a cool magic place they want instead of their real school. But at some point she and the fans decided to turn into some elaborate fantasy epic. Only she simply can't build a consistent world out of it. And it shows in every stupid "what if" or "why don't" question people can come up with.

I threw them in the same basket because they're popular fictional series people watch and/or read, but how is she trying to adapt HP to GoT content? That just seems inapplicable?
@NapoleonWilson OK, I know the type
I saw criticisms of HP being mainly that the style is just childish.

I haven't read it. But I like the films very much.

7:45 PM
Nothing wrong with that, mind, but that she's no Carroll or Dr. Seuss

Well, it's modern fun kids/young adult stuff. There's neither a huge literary nor a huge pedagogic aspiration behind it.

You can't start on a merely escapist journey and then try to make some profound meaning out of it
@NapoleonWilson I guess.

You can. Just declare your characters secretly gay after the fact. ;-)

Having only recently been graduated from young adult status, that's the focus group that makes for the worst crap in the history of manure

Or invent a spell with which students make their excrements disappear whereby the magic world doesn't need toilets. (No, sorry, I wish that was made up, too.)

7:48 PM
Well, glad never downloaded the books
Now I'm looking for Mith's rant
I expect a rant from a Literature.SE mod to be profound and contain at least three nouns and five adjectives I have to look up

You won't find it, it's on Discord.

Ugh

Neither is your record of Literature.SE mods up to date.

heh

@NapoleonWilson Once a mod, always a mod
Of course, I can be snarky at him with less fear of repercussions if he's not blue

7:54 PM
Exactly.

@Mithical Where is it? General goes back to Jun 6 mostly
Or do you have a figurative meaning for "yesterday"

You do know that other servers exist
And I think I said "you won't find it", because... you won't. ;)

(Which also suggests that it doesn't want to be found.)

@Mithical You could have said that eight minutes earlier
💣
@NapoleonWilson It's in a Discord mod-only room

That might not even be too far from the truth.

8:01 PM
I mean if you really want I can screenshot the second half of it. But no, it's in a public channel in a public server... just not one you're in. ;)

@Mithical No thanks
I just Googled "Rowling Twitter" and I saw I want no part of it

Didn't think so. :P

Not even think about it.

8:19 PM
Oh my, nuff said.
Didn't know she had red hair now, though.
And no, that's not a metaphor. She has genuinely red hair.

Reminds me of all the 75+ old ladies around here who dye their hair red to look younger.
(...75 was age, not number.)

I...didn't even know that's what it's supposed to do anyway. ;-)

I didn't say it was successful...
