SamiIn the movie "Taxi Driver", Travis meets Betsy for lunch and she tells him a quote from a song : 'He's a prophet... he's a prophet and a pusher, partly truth, partly fiction. A walking contradiction.' She then says that only the walking contradiction applies to him. Never understood why though. ...

MeltingDogIn one of the early scenes it shows Cobb being pushed backwards off a chair to be woken up out of the dream. Q: Is there an indication that the "Clue" endings influenced ratings in 1985?

MikeyThe movie Clue had three endings with the potential for a fourth. The movie has since become a classic, but did not fare well in the box office. Q: Why does Watson call Moriarty the "Napoleon of Crime"?

Napoleon WilsonAt the end of The Seven-Per-Cent Solution we learn that Holmes's obsession with Moriarty comes from his suppressed childhood memory of Moriarty's affair with Holmes's mother when he was his teacher (after which Holmes's father killed his mother). But after learning this, Watson says to Freud: ...

Okay people, so what on effin' earth is spoilery about the recent Rogue One questions titles?
Seriously, I need that explained, for there are no friggin' spoilers anywhere!

@NapoleonWilson Which questions?

12:21 PM
@DrRDizzle I don't know, but apparently people recently freaked out about supposedly spoiling question titles.
@Passerby It seems to be applied perfectly, that's what happened to it.

@NapoleonWilson No comments on spoilers in titles, I have seen.

@DrRDizzle I was talking about chat people who seemed to have an utter attack over totally non-spoiling question titles.

@NapoleonWilson Subjective, spoilers are.

Yeah, Leia's voice is in the film? Not a fucking spoiler!
A love story is in the film? Not a fucking spoiler!
Thanks.

@NapoleonWilson As a reveal, it is played.
@NapoleonWilson A third act development, it is.
In marketing, they are not.

12:29 PM
@MAFIA36790 No.
@MAFIA36790 So why not answer it now then?
@MAFIA36790 What poem are you talking about? How is that related to the film or this statement? Why do you think that line is from a poem? Isn't that just the name he bears in the stories? What is going on here? Where am I?
@MAFIA36790 Well, sure. But I can't see how it's related to a poem at all, since that's just the name Moriarty has in the original stories to begin with and my question is explicitly why they call him that although he wasn't a criminal mastermind in that film. I hope your answer will adress this, too.
But if you think you have an answer, of course you should answer it. You don't have to ask for permission to write an answer, questions are free game to be answered after years and years, that's how SE works afterall.

Worked up over something, Napoleon appears to be.
A chill pill, you should take.

12:39 PM
@DrRDizzle That's...that's confrontational?

Overly angry, these are.
@NapoleonWilson "What is going on here? Where am I?"
Exasperation leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to the Dark Side.

@DrRDizzle Yes, that was angry, because that's what internet spoiler fanatics make me. But that's also why I asked about my responses to MAFIA specifically, since those were the ones immediately preceding your statement.

Delayed, my responses are.
Difficult to converse like this, it is.

@DrRDizzle Oh gheez, that was part of the joke, to lighten up a long sequence of questions. That last part was supposed to tone down any perceived confrontation of a seemingly endless question list. But I see it failed at that.

@NapoleonWilson Misunderstood you, I have.
To Dagobah, I must return.

12:42 PM
@DrRDizzle Yeah, then why do so?

@NapoleonWilson Yoda Hat, I have earned.
His speech pattern, I have adopted.
Less funny than I'd have hoped, it is.
But continue with it, I will.
Perseverance, one must have.
Or to the Dark Side, one will fall.

user116211
Oh, Under Yoda's personality, Dizzle has fallen.

user116211
@NapoleonWilson Macavity, a cunning mischievous cat in the poem, was modelled on Prof. Moriarty.

@MAFIA36790 Correct, you are.

user116211
2:27 PM
In the poem, Macavity attains the recognition "Napoleon of Crime".

Given up this pointless shtick, I have not.

user116211
@DrRDizzle ohh

user116211
> Macavity, Macavity, there's no one like Macavity,
There never was a Cat of such deceitfulness and suavity.
He always has an alibi, and one or two to spare:
At whatever time the deed took place—MACAVITY WASN'T THERE !
And they say that all the Cats whose wicked deeds are widely known
(I might mention Mungojerrie, I might mention Griddlebone)
Are nothing more than agents for the Cat who all the time
Just controls their operations: the __Napoleon of Crime!__

user116211
So, I conclude, (inspired from the poem), the phrase was used to describe Moriarty in the film; after all Macavity was sketched on the personalities of Prof. Moriarty himself by the poet T.S.Eliot.

Q: Why the shift in Ned Land's character?

Johnny BonesIn the film 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954), Kirk Douglas' character Ned Land is seen as a "cocky master harpooner" [¹]. However, over the course of the film he appears more childlike than cocky, at least to me. Did Disney remove the "edge" from this character to make him more likable/less...

Q: "I am Negan" lifted from the movie Spartacus?

Johnny BonesWas the concept of unity in the "We're all Negan" motif ripped off (or homaged) from the scene in Spartacus where every character stands up and states, "I am Spartacus!".

Or at least, I think it's hard to get.

Q: Was Bill Murray actually "in the room" with the 2016 Ghostbusters?

ValorumWatching the new (2016) Ghostbusters movie, it struck me that the scene with Bill Murray was shot in a very odd manner, with no scenes where he actually interacts directly with the cast, other than the initial shot where he walks into the room (which could very easily be a split-screen shot). It'...

Q: Scifi YA story about boy leaving safe surroundings for supposedly unsafe environment

C. Tomm I read this story in German in the early to mid 1990's. As it was in the local library and looked quite used it might be older than that. The cover I remember was a figure shown from behind in front of a Mars-like environment (red wasteland, black sky) I distinctly remember the book title to be ...

(German SF; I don't know how much @NapoleonWilson is into SF, but at least he is German, so he's got that part right).

Q: Bad guy tied to a chair, grenade explodes in his mouth

mgarciaisaiaI really don't have much more information about this, but I feel it won't be that hard for you to find this movie. I've seen it as a kid on cable TV in the mid 90's in Argentina (but I think it's a typical Hollywood action movie), so it can be anything between the 60's and, say, '95. It was an ...

PantherIn person of interest , we know that Machine is created by Harold. Only power comes to machine by getting data from feeds. Else the logic/Structure was provided by Harold. Q: Most recent Hollywood feature film without closing credits

PsychonautFrom the discussion at "When did Opening Credits become Closing Credits?", we learn that "the use of closing credits in film to list complete production crew and cast was not firmly established in American film until the 1970s. Before this decade, most movies were released with no closing credits...

So...would this question be considered trivia?
I'm so confused.
There are no close votes on it for it possibly being trivia, but then others have been closed for being trivia that I can't understand them being trivia at all...

@MovieReel Is that like the twelve days of Christmas?

@steelersquirrel One of several reasons I strongly opposed "General Reference" (similar to trivial) close reason on SFF is because people applied it in 100% arbitrary fashion, not what it was clear-cut intended for.
@steelersquirrel Well, you and @MAFIA36790 made the place feel welcoming, so I needed to show my appreciation by being social.
